Driving test fees to rise
« on: December 02, 2004, 08:34:02 AM »
The cost of taking a drving test will rise starting next week.

Fees for the practical test increasing from £39 to £42 for cars,  and £48 to £51 for motorcycles.

This will start next Wednesday December 8th.

Convenient they said NOTHING about shortening the waiting times to TAKE the damn test!

Ah - government prices always seem to be going up.  I was reading that the congestion charge in London is going up from 5 to 8 pounds per day in the New Year (and of course that news came just after we had set our London course prices for next year :-\\\\ )

Dang!  My husband had to wait 6 weeks for a slot in the middle of winter when he took it a few years ago.  I phoned this summer and the wait was THREE months!? :o

Here in NI, due to a strike the wait is now 4 months, possibly more.  I called to book my practical two weeks ago (after I passed my theory! ;D) and they could not give me an appointment.  The girl on the phone said that the minimum was 4 months maybe longer.  They will contact me when they are ready to book my appointment!  I just hope they give me adequate amount of time to schedule those damn driving lessons, so maybe I can pass the practical test. ::)
