So I've been in quite "the mood" today.  My husband is upstairs bathing the kids and I hear my daughter say "it's Mommys birthday soon" and then starts practicing singing the happy birthday song.  Makes me think I should try to snap out of my mood!   ::)

Well if this is not the PERFECT visa anthem!

KFDancer for your entertainment. Larrabee for your creative inspiration, and something to watch in your breaks. And for all those still waiting some glitterrisation!

I bought wool and needles! Not sure if I should get a book or learn from youtube. Could be a good distraction on the 13 hour flight. Suggestions on resources for absolute beginners?

Good for you, it's so much fun and an absolutely brilliant way to pass the time.   ;D

Definitely go with youtube it's much easier to learn stitches from than the pictures in a book.

Ravelry https://www.ravelry.com is a fantastic resource for knitters. It's free to join and there is an awesome pattern search tool with thousands of free patterns and even more paid for ones. They have something for every level and they also have forums where you can ask any questions!   ;D

Don't try to take knitting needles on a plane.

You can take them.  :)  When I used to fly frequently I would  bring  a copy of the rules from the TSA website, just in case, but I never had a problem.

Excellent! Rrally looking forward to hearing how you get on. I have to confess I didnt get past the first few rows of my blanket! Lol Those rows and this thread helped me hugely though and were my first steps to getting more physically grounded again.

Ok beautiful people I've rewritten 'I Will Survive' just for us. I didnt need to change much! You need to listen to it whilst singing our version, preferably loud and repetitively.

I Will Survive

At first I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking how they do us wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned to get along
And you'll be back from outer space
I'll just walk in to find you here with that kind look upon your face
I should've stamped that latest statement
Dotted Is and crossed that T
If I'd known for just one second just how long this wait would be

UkVI
Send to our door
Send that damn visa
Cos we're not waiting anymore
Weren't you the ones that tried to hurt us with deny
Did you think I'd crumble
That I'd lay down and die
Oh no not I
I will survive
As long as I know how to love I know I'll be alive
I've got all my love to give
I've got all my life to live
I'll survive
I will survive
Heeey heeey

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
And you see me
Somebody new
I'm not that weeping little person on the phone to you
And yes I checked the tracker twice and phoned the line that's so not free
But hon I'm saving all my loving for the day you're here with me.

UkVI
Send to our door
Send that damn visa
Cos we're not waiting anymore
Weren't you the ones that tried to hurt us with deny
Did you think I'd crumble
That I'd lay down and die
Oh no not I
I will survive
As long as I know how to love I know I'll be alive
I've got all my love to give
I've got all my life to live
I'll survive
I will survive

Anyone enduring the wait...
Sing it loud while knitting!

As requested - a money origami frog! Maybe it could go for a swim in that nicely filled water butt.

The blurb wot I wrote about it is here:

Clearly feeling dramatic, I went for Les Mis... DF suggested "Tomorrow" from Annie, because that's how we're trying to feel this week, but it just didn't have the power I needed. And "One Day More" had too many overlapping parts. . . so without further ado:

[CharlieB:]
Do you hear the couples sing?
Singing a song of wait again?
It is the music of a couple
Who are waiting to hear when!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the tw’ddling of your thumbs
There is a life about to start
When your visa comes!

[larrabee]
Will you join in our chat page?
Who will be strong and wait with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there someone you long to see?

[EmilyUK:]
Then join in the wait
That will give you a date to be free!

[All:]
Do you hear the couples sing?
Singing a song of wait again?
It is the music of a couple
Who are waiting to here when!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the tw’ddling of your thumbs
There is a life about to start
When your visa comes!

[OrigamiRuss:]
When you fold all you can fold
While waiting for your passport stamp
Called the help line - put on hold
Can’t knit because my fingers cramp’d
The tears of the waiters
Will water all Emily’s plants!

[All:]
Do you hear the couples sing?
Singing a song of wait again?
It is the music of a couple
Who are waiting to here when!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the tw’ddling of your thumbs
There is a life about to start
When your visa comes!

And another anthem to keep you going...

Ok today's anthem for you lovelies. When it's the instrumental picture a ballet dancing frog on a glitterised stage. Who remembers when the film came out? I remember being 16 and an au pair in France for the summer listening to it looking dreamily at the moon. I haven't changed  Lol
