Haha, I just read that as 'getting married'... I can't think why!  ;)

What about your FLR, are you ready to apply?  :D

I think CharlieB has done enough getting married already!   :D
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Looking forward to seeing these! I wonder if they will arrive before Larrabee's next origami installation?
We'll see! The hats and such have to be done for Oct 1, preferably by the end of next weekend so then I'll get to work on the sweater crafting. :)

The sewing projects also sound awesome! I want to see the finished product. :)

I anticipate having the visa next month, but I am asking my job for a contract extension through the end of November as I just don't see any way I'll have my house sold by then and I fear the loss of income moving while having outstanding medical bills and a mortgage. (I'll have spent ~$10k on my healthcare this year by the time I move. :( ) *sigh* being a chronically ill immigrant is not fun. Wishing we hadn't spent the $$ on priority as my body just hasn't cooperated and I'm only able to do tiny amounts of work decluttering and cleaning each week.

Margo, if your visa arrives before you are ready, you can always take a trip to the UK to pick up your BRP then return to the US to finish your packing.
It's not ideal of course as it means paying for another flight but it's preferable to sending off your passport again to change the vignette because then who knows how long you'll have to wait again.

Goodluck with the sweater making I've always wanted to learn how to make sweaters and things i think I'm better with sewing though I tried knitting once and it was supposed to be a scarf and it turned into half a hat shape lol I've been looking into how to embroider your own patches hopefully it looks good when I try

Scarves are good, and shawls and blankets. I knit but I stay away from anything where size matters even a little bit!  ;D

Yeah, that's exactly our plan! We decided it was better than me trying to rush, and with the unreliable processing times I needed the stability of not losing my job.

I can't sew at all. I couldn't thread the machine my aunt gave me. So ... crochet and knit are good for me! My grandma does tatting as well and it's *hard*. I actually started learning how to gauge things w/ crochet, so that's why I want to give the sweaters a go. They're bulky and open front so if they end up big it'll be ok ;)

I'll thread the machine, if you'll teach me the trick for keeping work on the knitting needles!

You can buy end stoppers for your needles but I just take a rubber band and wrap the pointy ends together with that. Works a treat and costs nothing!  ;D

I bought a few craftsy kits while waiting for my visa, and the first attempt at making something a specific size is almost done! Crocodile stitch adult slippers. They stretch, but I made the 7-8 pattern when I shouldve gone 9-10 for my 8.5 wide feet... Adding an extra row to the base wasn't quite enough.

First photo is mine in grey, second is how they look on feet from the pattern. I just need a couple buttons for the ankles :)

I'll say, crafting got me through the lengthy end of summer wait last year. And now that I'm here and job hunting it's keeping me sane again.
