How is it possible for the direct line for MPs to be disconnected ?! What are UKVI playing at! That is just terrible

Yep

Ah well, I took refuge in IKEA furniture again. There's only one thing better than successfully building a piece of furniture from flat pack and that's getting a bit wrong, not realising until the end, thinking it's going to be almost impossible to rectify, then finding a solution that works! It's an excellent UKVI antidote. I've run out of rooms and wall space now though!

That's what they put in writing to me today. That she had tried to call the direct line number but it is now disconnected? It seems hard to believe but so does all of it

I'm inclined not to believe it actually. I think it's more likely that either she misdialed or perhaps that number has been changed. No doubt if it is true though, it'll be reported again online somewhere so we should find out one way or the other.
Don't let it go though. Get back on to the office and ask them what they are going to do now to help you.

Is your MP aware that the UKVI contact numbers for MPs all changed on 10th April 2017?

http://www.w4mp.org/2017/04/08/changes-to-contact-arrangements-for-mp-passportvisaimmigration-enquiries/

And
http://www.w4mp.org/library/guides/casework-guides/tools-and-resources/hotline-numbers-for-mps-meps-msps-ams-and-their-staff/

And
http://www.w4mp.org/2017/06/27/hotlines-list-update/

She may still be using the old number.

Thanks I appreciate that :) I get the impression there are some really good MPs in Scotland across the political spectrum.

20% of Scottish MPs losing their seat at the last election, maybe says different? The snap election caught a few MPs out and not just in Scotland.

My MP in a marginal seat, has been so good since he came in, that we all don't care what party he is and he could be Lord Buckethead for all we care. He had an increase in his vote from the 2015 election.

There was a Bill going through Parliament saying that MPs who were not doing a good job, can be removed from their job between elections. The MPs had to vote on that and the majority voted to say they didn't want that. ::)
