Reusable bread ties
« on: July 13, 2017, 07:03:31 PM »
U.S. has had them since the seventies.  Flat plastic covered wire, twist on, twist off, keeps bread fresh.  Here?  Flimsy stuck together ONE TIME USE plastic.  Say what, now?

My daughter is visiting in October.  I told her to save bread ties.

Hee hee.

I do the grab the bread bag, spin, and tuck the tail under the bread.  Well, I used to.

Now that we are an allergy family and we need several breads and it goes off so quick, we freeze it and take them out as needed.

I save twist ties from everything and use them for everything... but especially for closing up jumbo bags of frozen veg after pouring out a few portions for a meal.  I always have giant bags of sprouts, sweetcorn, and peas going in the freezer.

I probably have a ridiculous amount somewhere in my house. I'd you buy the Morrison brand freezer bags, 100 for £1, they come with tons of twist ties. I use the bags as cheap dog poo bags. People give me crap though cause the bags are see through, not black.

We use the twist and tuck method or a clothes peg for bread.

Your post has funny timing, Katoo - DH and I set up some bamboo poles in the garden this evening and we use mega twist ties to hold them together (the twist ties are about 30cm long). We bought them in a pack of what seems like a million and use them for various garden things.

If people don't like your clear poo bags, why are they giving you more...?

Yeah, buy cheap freezer bags and you'll get loads.

For bread itself I just reuse the sticky tape bit - twist back and put back on and works fine  ???

That's what I do.
Except for when OH buys a plain loaf (in the waxed paper)... when he gets that, I fold the end down, and wedge it against the fridge to hold it shut!  ::)

I can't get the darn tape off at times! And then husband just rips into the bag like a savage sometimes.  ::)

We get twist ties for our sandwich bags. Could always buy those and reuse the twist ties for your bread?

Breadbox?
