Tabloid headlines: Prince Harry
« on: July 24, 2017, 04:31:39 AM »
I noticed the tabloid headlines asking when Prince Harry would ask his girlfriend ( a non-EU citizen) to  marry him and asking why he has not done so already- and it occurred to me that if he does, he will be amongst the people waiting...and waiting...and waiting for a decision on their appropriate VISA.  Perhaps then some changes to the system will be made in regard to communication and efficiency of the current UKVI system-- well the thought entertained me for a while...

True except for two things:

1. They have more than enough money for priority service

But most importantly;

2. His grandmother has the power to grant visas and passports to anyone

I am sure the queen would not be impressed with current processing times...
She DOES indeed have the power to change ALL of this!
Interestingly enough I was on my way to the train station today here in London and was in cab which whizzed passed Buckingham Palace... Part of me wanted to get out and hold up a big sign infront of the palace which read... "SORT OUT UKVI PROCESSING ISSUES"

I was about to give the Queen a call but my lawyer husband says she does not in fact have any power over immigration as all government legislation matters have been taken away from her.
Married 1966, left UK 1969, returned 1998, left again 2000, returned June 2014 (husband on spousal visa) granted FLR(M) November 30th 2016  and ILR on  24th May, 2019. Yeah!

She has also made her point on immigration VERY clear!  And it's not pro-immigration!

I'm not so sure she's anti EU.  Did you guys see the hat she wore for her speech?  Blue with yellow flowers arranged in a circle?  Dead ringer for the EU flag.

Did you know that if you die and don't have any family or anyone else to claim your estate, it all goes to the queen!

I wonder if/how she/her people handle the inheritance tax. ;)

Does anyone remember a few years ago when there was a massive injunction on reporting some story about allegations about  a member of the royal family?  Seems like it was about 15 years ago.  The queen demanded that nobody print the story and indeed, it certainly was not.  My memory is hazy and no doubt Sirius will be along to correct me.  Don't doubt the queen still has some power.

Are you guys basing all this on that conversation that was reported by some dodgy politician during the Brexit campaign?  If so, I am very dubious.  The best thing about the queen is she keeps her mouth shut about politics and in return we don't get out the guillotine.

She's brought immigration up in every Queens Speech for years.
