Oh no! What happened?
Long story short.. previous occupiers left it in such horrible condition. Food all over carpets, fridge left with now rotten food in it, both toilets had waste in it, shower had all sorts of mold, bugs all over walls, bin bags of waste left all over house and then back garden and garage looked like the local tip.
Funny thing is, the letting agent did an inventory before so somebody knew it was gross and didn't think let's get it cleaned up.
Luckily, our current landlord has some compassion and is letting us stay on the condition we pay rent up front in a weekly basis and update them week to week on our status.
We called citizens advice just to see if we had rights to pull out, and they mentioned treading water because you don't want to start off the tenancy on the wrong foot with the landlord because come the end of it they can end your tenancy for no reason. Though in my opinion this is the letting agents fault not landlord. But now I'm worried that we've pissed the landlord off by not moving in.
But the agents agreed to refund whatever money we paid until it's sorted and to compensate money for our current rent as well. Hopefully in two weeks time we will be moved in.
I don't ever want to rent again. It's been a day full of emotions :]
