As we're already off-topic, let me moan!
Had two more interviews at Oracle today. I think it's me and either one or two internal candidates remaining (I think possibly only one internal). And I think they are going to go the internal route. How do you convince them that even though "I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt" that they should take a chance on the unknown? The other person knows the business, knows the players, knows whats working, knows what needs to change. How do you compete with that? And he's a man. GRRRRRR
The fact that they already know him so well could work for or against you, depending on how well he meshes with the existing team. Maybe he's very good at his job, but he rubs people the wrong way. That could help you. Or maybe he's not even very good at his job, but is only being considered because he's really 'in' with one of the decision-makers... they still have to convince the others (if it's a team/board decision).
The fact that he's a man and you're a woman could actually help you... many companies are trying hard to improve their diversity figures. Bringing in another woman helps their numbers, and I assume he'd get to keep his old job, so it doesn't really hurt him.
But, yeah... in my real world experience... *headshake*... I think I'd be annoyed by this point at what looks like stringing along. But, maybe they'll surprise you with the offer at the end.
You had another interview pending with a different company, too, right?
