I’m delighted to report that the parcel is FINALLY on its way! I’ve had a heck of a week, but managed a quick run to the post office. @JennyEye you should have it by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I am less delighted to report that I didn’t manage to reduce the size or weight of the box. Someone will have to choose a heavy bulky thing soon!

Theses were my selections:

I took the chocolate pudding because when I saw it in the box I was gripped by a sudden compulsion to make a chocolate pie.

As you can see it didn’t set up completely—I think I made the pudding with too much milk. I also added some vanilla, sea salt, and bourbon to the pudding. My husband LOVED it and was sad to hear we couldn’t have it again because we don’t have any more Jell-o!

OMG my mom brought me some pudding last time she was around. I made a basic pie that sadly got tossed as my family didn’t eat it and I couldn’t finish it

The pie looks amazing! I avoided the pudding because I'm trying to cut back on sweets and I know that I would demolish at least half a pie to myself and that would then just make me sad hah Was a struggle as it was so tempting but I had to just say no. Glad I did because it meant you have now introduced your husband to something grand! You can get pudding online, it's just most expensive than the US by far :( and you're more limited on the flavours you can get here.

Never thought about putting in bourbon and sea salt though! YUM!

I put in the pudding!  I had a good dig around the cupboard last night for more and all I turned up was a fat-free sugar-free chocolate pudding.  If you think you can stomach eating that, PM me your address and I'll mail it (eventually).  No idea how I ended up with a fat-free sugar-free pudding.  Just sounds wrong!  I'll never eat it.   ;D

Fat-free and sugar-free pudding?  What's left after you take fat and sugar out?  I'm kind of afraid of the answer!  :P

It's almost like you have to get ONE box when getting the others so you can try to pretend you might make it LOL

How/why does that happen?  Sometimes I look in the back of a cupboard, and I'm all, "I know I didn't buy this!  Why do we have this?!"  My entire adult life, I've had those experiences.  Even in my own kitchens, not just "inherited" kitchens!  I just don't understand how it happens.

The only other options it that somebody put it back in the wrong spot when at the shops and she grabbed it in error and didn't realise!

I think we used to eat this back home as my brother is diabetic. We had sugar free jello, pudding, Kool aid, etc growing up. It’s honestly not bad.

@jfkimberly the crust was all right--for some reason my pie crusts here always come out a bit tough. I think it's because there's no Crisco!

The topping wasn't meringue, it was whipped cream with a bit of gelatine to help it hold its shape. However, I think a set custard chocolate pie with sea salt and bourbon and a meringue topping sounds great! I might try that myself.

@KFdancer thanks for the pudding :) and for the offer, but I can't handle the taste of artificial sweetener  [smiley=puke.gif]. If the husband gets too insistent in his demands for more pie, I'll see if I can find some regular pudding online.

Also I thought all pudding mix was fat free ??? The fat comes from the milk, surely?

Yesterday my husband was doing a spray-lacquer finish on a sign we made for his mechanic-friend's garage (an "I'm-going-away" present) and then he had to clean out the campervan and get it sorted for his last week.  I asked if there was anything I could do to help, and he (jokingly) said I could make a pudding.  So, after your pie, I was inspired to make this quick-set chocolate "custard" which I put it on a base of leftover hazelnut praline that we'd made for another dessert, and then I whipped up an Italian meringue, which my husband came in just in time to hit with the blowtorch.

Then we ate these:

The "custard" was more ... thick... like a ganache, maybe?  It was fairly firm.  And rich.  But it set up quickly, and it was tasty, if decadent.  I didn't add bourbon, because I wasn't sure what added liquid would do... my husband wasn't convinced it was going to set, but it only took the time I spent making the meringue to be firm, so a splash of bourbon probably would've been fine.

Nice! Italian meringue is a great choice, the French would have the wrong texture I think. How were they?

Oops.  I edited my post.  They were rather rich.  My husband thought the Italian meringue was too sweet against the chocolate, and was overpowering. I thought it was necessary because the chocolate was so dark and rich.  We both agreed that the hazelnut praline base was a very good element.

But, the short answer is: they were very nice!  I had mine with two glasses of water.

Box arrived!! I love how you used my user name on here.

I have chosen 3 items, not out of greed, more I was forced. I chose one, the pumpkin pie. But my teenager, I mean 2 year old, screamed in delight at the wind chime and will not out the nessie toy down. I told her to choose one and she said both.......And I am not giving up the pumpkin pie. So thank you all who contributed. I'll get my contributions in and send it off early next week.
