Timing of bank statements and wage slips
« on: July 26, 2017, 02:28:24 PM »
Hello,
We are considering what date to set for marriage in the US, to be followed by an immediate spouse visa application for my fiancé to come to UK.

In looking at late September, it may mean a visa application around 26-28th September.

I am unclear about how recent the 6 months wage slips and bank statement must be?

Is it the case they should be within 28 days of the biometrics appointment date or the online visa application date?

If I have March to August payslips (pay date varies but can be around 24th - 25th), then I am guessing the August payslip is too old after 28 days?

The difficulty is, I'll be in US, but could get the September wage slip sent out to me from UK to US, but I don't think I'll be able to get a bank statement other than an online banking print out, which won't be stamped as official by my bank.

Also, what if my wage slips are paid 24/25th? Do the bank statements have to run from exactly the same period, 25th March-25th August, or just show the 6 salary deposits?

Have I understood the timing issue correctly? If not, please can anyone clarify?

All the financial stuff needs to be within 28 days of the application being submitted and the package needs to be posted within 5 days of biometrics.

How about you take all the documents with you when you return to the UK, add in the most recent payslip and bank statement and mail it from here?

Well, I was thinking we would clear all the visa stuff then honeymoon in USA. I guess she  can delay biometrics until I'm home. Would that delay the processing time? Do they start processing when application is made online, or when they get the documents?

Processing starts once you receive the "documents received" email from Sheffield.

Thanks for this clarification.

Another question - I am guessing if we submit everything except the last bank statement and payslip (then send those separately at a later date) they won't start processing until they get it all? And pairing it up may make things more complicated?

You cannot add anything once the application has been submitted.

The most important thing is to ensure you have every single document in your hands before you hit submit on the application.

Thanks KFdancer, this is all very pertinent advice. I will see if my employer can pay me at the very end of August,  instead of 5 days early, and that should buy us enough days in September.
