I just got the exact same error message as before. Computer shut down because of a problem then once it starts the no wifi hardware installed message.

I don't know how many more times I can be expected to keep going back before they actually try more than a clean re-install to try to fix it.

It lasted TWO days this time.

Can you not take it to a different store?  Must you go back to the same one?

I could but it's more than twice the distance, more expensive, two trains instead of one and no guarantee that they are going to be any more helpful than the one I've been going to.

I've lost all faith in Apple customer service.

I would go to a different store.  I COMPLETELY understand your frustration.  You are SO justified in hating them.  But with a bit of luck, the new store will take you seriously.

I've had great service at the Reading store.  How far would that be?   ;D

Haha!  ;D I've been thinking of working out how many train journeys I have to take before it would be cheaper just buying a new computer!  ;D

Did this happen?  Do I need to continue to be envious, or can I stop feeling left out?  ;)

Also, any update on your computer, larrabee?

The guy from the complaints department made his follow up call as arranged and I told him it was still not right. He had me speak with a senior tech support guy who said that there was nothing at all that could be done unless I took the computer in so that they could see the problem!!!
It didn't seem to matter how many times I explained to him that we were past that stage, I'd taken it in when it was frozen with all the errors showing but because they couldn't reproduce it later in the back room they decided there was nothing wrong and sent it home with me.
So he says I have to take it back, ...again... this'll be the 4th trip in for this problem, it's like some bizarre ground hog day situation, I am so frustrated!
He did say that he'd try to get involved by phone when I was in the store so I have a little hope that they will actually try to fix it, but not much... (I've given up asking for a new one as that was just getting nowhere but I do want it fixed at least!)

It just seems that they are so dictated by protocol that no common sense thinking is allowed at all. They don't like it when you point that sort of thing out!  ;D

No lunch! I'm further away than you are and secretly feel left out all the time too, but don't tell the others that!  :)

People who lack common sense seldom like it when you point out their lack of common sense.  People who are obligated to follow protocol when they know it's stupid hate it even more, because they're just as frustrated as you are, but they're not allowed to complain about it.

I won't tell them.  It'll be our little secret for our little secret club that the others can't join.  :P

Larabee, that's actually one of my big complaints about working for a big company.  Often times there is so much bureaucracy and red tape that the employees who are customer-facing are not empowered to make decisions!
