I have just seen a few reports of Netflix not working on Safari for MBP users who are on HS 10.13.6.  The simple solutions are to use Chrome (or some other browser), or to use a private tab in Safari.  Other than that, the build seems to be stable enough.  I think you're safe to update.  :)

Thanks! But see, that's exactly the sort of stuff I don't want to have to deal with!

Are you able to check what the update is for at all? I reckon it'll be fine to update but as it's an apple product, I don't want to say it with 100% confidence as I know their phone updates can be the WORST sometimes haha

In looking closer, the reports I saw were from June and July, and there have been two patches since then, so it's possible it's fixed.  And the sources I read suggested it could've been browser extensions that caused the problem, as it wasn't universal to all users.  You will most likely be just fine.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

It says, blah, blah, blah, improves stability and security blah, blah, recommended for all users etc.

There have been several updates between the one I'm on and this one!

I would definitely do it as you might find you actually have more issues by missing several updates.

Good plan!  :)  I've been quite productive today, got two letters finished that I've been working on for a while, just in case!

If you need it during the week and want to be extra safe - do the update on Friday afternoon so that you can go to the apple store on Saturday in an absolute worse case scenario :)

Well done! Way to go for being productive. Since I've been back from holiday, the stress at work has just gotten even worse so I'm being even worse with procrastinating because I just don't want to deal with the stress lol

My computer went funny this afternoon. The pages were in a primitive form, and much expanded, I don't really know how to describe it but hoping some of you will recognise the symptoms.

I called Apple support and we went through all the usual manoeuvres and the only thing that we found was that when we created a guest account, everything looked normal again.

Long story short, I now have Mojave and it has not made any difference.. still unusable in my original account and the guest account is working.

They are closed now so it's going to have to wait until tomorrow but is there anything that I should be asking them to check or anything that I could try myself right now?

Thanks!  :)

Some kind of special display mode for people with visual impairment, maybe? Can you take a picture of it with a phone and upload it here?

I don't think so. It's the same kind of writing that I see occasionally, briefly, when my online banking website doesn't load quickly enough.
I'll try to do that though, thanks!

What version of safari do you have? Seems to be an ongoing issue with Safari 10 on an older post I found with apple support.
UK Spouse Visa (Priority)
Approved: 1 May 2018

FLR(M) Standard
Approved: 16 June 2021

ILR (SET M) Super Priority
Approved: 29 August 2023
