It's an older Dell, running Windows 7. I have my desktop set up now, so it's not vital that the laptop works, but I really rather do enjoy reading my news, etc., at the kitchen table in the mornings instead of having to fire up the PC back here in the back of the flat.
So, anyway, up until now it has been working fine. This morning I went out to turn it on and it started the bootup and into Windows and I have now a frozen donut (the little loading circle) on the screen. Everything else is frozen as well. Can't turn it off and on, which would have been the "go to" on the PC.... any idea what I can do to unfreeze it? I guess I have to let the battery run down, or disconnect it, to get it stopped from whatever has happened, and then try to restart while punching F8 a lot?
It's a very old machine, and I bought it strictly for use on this trip until we had our stuff here and the PC was running, but am rather fond of it now and would like to have it back. I'm not inclined to run it to a shop unless there is nothing else I can do for it.
