If I brew, I want to do it the proper way like my friend does it, but that does require a little bit of an investment. Someday I will totally convince my husband that we need to try brewing our own beer and setting up a space (we have an out-building at the moment that would be perfect - it has electricity and plumbing - but he uses it to store all the DIY junk in at the moment). I love seeing my friend's post on his instagram as he's always putting up the new kegs that he's ready to tap and it's pretty inspiring!

Sounds like a great space to set up a brewery. You don't need a lot to get going. You can 'brew in a bag' for quite cheap.
I do 3 vessel brewing, with a coolbox mashtun, which was the standard way to homebrew forever. However, I'm dying for a 'single' vessel system like a Grainfather or even worse a Braumeister, which is definitely not cheap.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
Work permit (2007) to British Citizen (2014)

Thank you for sharing this! I will definitely look into it :D

Not sure what my friend does as I'm trying to find the picture from when he first started but he posts SO many beer photos on his instagram that it's taking a surprising amount of scrolling and I haven't even found it yet! lol

haha my husband says he just wants more time back again so he can play some video games. He's forever complaining that he's too busy with life/DIY around the house to be able to spend time gaming.

I wish this stopped my husband lol. I mean if something really needs doing he'll do it but if he wants to game he's going to game. I got really annoyed this weekend because I was logging an eight hour overtime day at home Saturday and I asked him to get dinner started and he says why can't you I'm gaming?  [he just got some new game] but he could have much worse hobbies I suppose

hah!  After we've finished our "chores" (whatever we're doing in the workshop or garden that day/weekend) we come in and play backgammon with Spotify going in the background.  Aren't we mad?

Sometimes, when we're too done in to play backgammon, we do turn the music up to soul-satisfying levels.  So there is that.

We love not having near neighbors!  :)

lol we're a monopoly family. It's not my game of choice but hubby loves it and daughter as started to love it so I suck it up.

I once thought I had a game wrapped up, hubby had about two hundred dollars left and came back and won the game.

Unfortunately for us we can't crank up music because we live in a flat, and unlike our neighbors we respect other people's quietness ( or maybe we figure we make enough noise during the day lol).

I can't wait in a months time we'll be in a detached house where we can listen to music as loud as we want

Oh man, I'd flip!  I mean, I love gaming too! We bonded initially over many shared interests including gaming, but over the years I got so busy at work that I just hadn't had the time to do it anymore because by the end of the day, I'm too exhausted to start playing a game that has 10-minute long cut scenes and requires attention to details etc. He is thankfully so good about getting all the stuff that needs doing done, but when I tell him "just go play a game for an hour!" he refuses to take a break! Instead he just complains he doesn't have the time and I'm like "if you don't get one DIY job done ASAP, it's not the end of the world....treat yoself!"

I've learned it's his outlet. If I give him a list of things over the weekend to do ( even if it's not on my time scale lol) he will do it. I just get annoyed when I want something done then and there and he doesn't want to. Guess it's give and take..

I think I'm more like your husband I try to tackle everything all at once then often times get overwhelmed!

I can totally relate in wanting to get things done there and then...but I am also such a procrastinator and have my own method of prioritising so can also get behind the "leave him to do it in his own time" approach.

Yay for detached houses!  This is why we wanted a detached house with "no near neighbours".  And this is why we had to move to (beautiful!) southwest Wales to get all the things on our deal-breaker list at a price we could afford.  We don't bother anybody here, and apart from the people who own the 'farm' behind us and have an easement to share our driveway, nobody  bothers us.  :)

That's me right there.  I was a scary student at end of term... I'd have so many papers piled up to write, and exams to sit that I hadn't studied for.  It's a wonder I got through it all!  But I did some of my best work when I was under pressure.  Without the looming deadline, it was just too easy to find other things more compelling in the moment.

haha I am definitely a city person so don't think I could move way out there by any means...it was hard moving from Reading to Crowthorne because the only thing I can hear at night are the foxes screaming (which is horrible, by the way!) and that alone was just too much silence for me! LOL

but yeah hahah I'm the worst...that would be why I eventually dropped out of Uni...I'm not a very good student because I just don't have the attention span or ability to push myself to focus on topics I have no desire to focus on. That's why studying for my driving test over here was so difficult!

I put off studying for my theory test 'til after I booked it in.  That way, I had a deadline.  And I was determined to only take it once, because I do not like to fail tests.  There were some scary moments the first time I practiced the hazard perception portion on my app.  It took me several goes to figure out when I was supposed to click to get the most points.  I worried that maybe this would end up being a rare failure.  But I actually got pretty decent marks, in the end.

Oddly enough, I aced that part...it was the multiple choice I failed by one or two questions TWO times...Third time was the charm apparently!

In all fairness, some of those multiple choice questions are worded oddly.  Or the rule doesn't make a lot of sense to me.  But I did memorize all the questions in my app, so I knew what they wanted me to say, even if I didn't agree with it.  Kind of like how for my practical, I knew how they wanted me to drive, even if I don't agree with it.  They can't see inside my car, now, though!  Wheeeeeeeeee!

haha I literally would start to read a question and be like "OH I KNOW THIS!" and jump the gun to answer it...but it would be one of those "what do you NOT do in these situations" type question. That's what I kept doing when I was practising so I imagine that's what I did on the day of the exams as well... I know for a fact it was down to me not being careful. LOL my bad habits definitely have come back out when it comes to driving.

My driving instructor told me that I was fine to drive however I felt comfortable after I passed the test.  She knew all of my "bad habits" and she didn't care as long as I was maintaining control of the car.  Her primary concern was preparing me to not do those wrong things long enough for the examiner to give me a pass.

Yep. That's what I'm doing too. I hate how the questions are worded. So dumb.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.
