I work in a theatre, and during shows the ushers report to me.  Last week one of the ushers was trying to reseat someone who didn't like their tickets, which is fine in a non sold out show, and asked me over the radio to look at the seating map at whether certain seats were available.  I asked if she meant 'b as in bravo' for the row because I couldn't tell on the radio and she replied 'No, d as in dragon.'  I nearly cried laughing.

That would literally be me...which is why I hate having to do that! I hate being on the spot because that's the kind of stuff I say!

Did he give you the old "told you so!" lecture?

I was too busy feeling relieved and thanking him for convincing me to do it to notice if there was a lecture.  That whole thing could have made my graduation day a lot less pleasant.  :P

I got food poisoning when I was really young (like maybe 5?) from MacDonald's so I very very rarely touch it unless absolutely necessary (like maybe one time in 3 or 4 years because it's that or nothing)...but that is a super interesting fact you've just presented about tastes at different altitudes! Thanks for sharing! :)

I've only had food poisoning once (at a catered event for a local candidate I was working with... one of the supporters was enthusiastic but lacking in kitchen hygiene).  I wanted to die.  I can't imagine going through that as a small child.  I completely understand how that has put you off McDonald's forever!

Don't laugh at me!  Okay, it wasn't me in that case, but it seriously could have been!  :P

It was horrible. My only real memories of it were that I was up ALL night vomiting and had to have my sheets changed at LEAST once. It was not good... Since then, I've pretty much steered clear of it! My parents even knew that if we were going on a car trip, that is NOT a place we were okay to stop at lol As an adult though, I know I can't make a larger group of people cater to my dietary needs so I only eat there when it's the only option and I stick to eating the absolute minimum.

My bout with it was in 2010.  I remember it all too well.  :/

I think the time I damaged George Lucas' personal print of Return of the Jedi may have been the career low point.

Oh dear... was there any hope of pretending it wasn't you, or did you have to own that mistake?  That sounds like a tough one to weather.  (Yelling "gosh darnit to heck!" wouldn't quite be adequate, I imagine.)

I just turned off the projector and went in and told him. There's really no way to hide it. He was very decent about it. The damage was repairable, thank goodness. These things do happen.
That'll teach them to have an engineer do a techinician's work. Except of course it didn't.
Fortunately I was gone by the time Jar Jar showed up.

I don't have ANY stories nearly as good as the ones already up there.

By the way, I would fail any job that required me to use prescribed letter-word pairings. I pride myself on being creative and coming up with new words to spell out letters. :D

I suppose the only funny story of a work screw-up I have is from baby-sitting as a child. I locked myself out of the baby's room when I'd put him to bed and gone to get his bottle. Couldn't get back in, so I had to try to climb in through the window. While he was screaming, of course.

To make things even better, my parents were on a walk and went by the house right at that moment. So much for asserting my independence and saying I was old enough and capable enough to take care of a baby by myself. :)

You were being creative and thinking outside the box using your own problem solving methods.

"reply all"

nuff said! ::)

I cannot take credit for this, it happened to my work friend. She's a bit cuckoo in a good way.

But our managing director emailed to say he brought in treats for his birthday.

She replied all and said... "you're looking fit for sixty" thinking it was our customer service director (who she's friends with) and not meaning to reply all.

We were rolling laughing.

Oh gosh, I used to babysit in high school. The older sister would pick on little brother and ged lock himself in his room. His parents always were like it's fine he calms down then comes out.

Well one time he called 911 crying, the took the phone off the hook. I had several emergency responders show up and I was totally unaware.

I work a really boring job in billing for a water company that holds a contract in Scotland for councils, government buildings and universities.

Last week, I told one of my favourite customers that my pants were soaked. (It was pissing down rain and I spilled coffee on myself.)

Luckily I have a good relationship with this person and they laughed at me but oh god could have been worse. Some of the people who work at the councils have no humour.

I think their getting used to my silly americanisms ;D

haha oh jeez, how'd they react to that when they showed up?!

Are you truly an expat if you haven't had people think you're talking about your undies when you say "pants"??
