Halloween Movie Favourites.
« on: August 30, 2017, 08:45:21 AM »
Talking about Thanksgiving which lead into a topic of seasonal films/shows has got me in the mood to think about the best "seasonal" films. Halloween is up first, so I thought it only natural to start there! :p

My top favourite is Hocus Pocus. I feel like I need to watch it every year because I've been watching it in classes and on TV since I was in elementary school (I think they tried to make it seem more relevant to our learning than it really was because Salem wasn't far away so it suddenly became related from a historical" standpoint??). Other than that, I definitely enjoyed the animated Headless Horseman as that's another good nostalgic one that we watched in school from a young age.

Anybody else want to add to the list?
My, how time flies....

On a similar tone level (well, the same "fear factor" level... that is to say, none): Practical Magic

As much as I want to say It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!, I actually can't because that one makes me sad.  I feel sorry for Linus, and I feel sorry for Charlie Brown.  And I still randomly say, "I got a rock." to this day.

I feel like Ghostbusters should be a Halloween tradition, but I don't think I've ever watched it in October.  But that scene where Winston and Ray are driving in the car, om which Winston says something like, "Maybe the reason we've been so busy lately is because the dead have been rising from the grave!" and then they turn up the radio... I feel it.   :P

I mean... if you want some horror movie recommendations, I am your gal. My hubby is a horror movie nut, and we've probably seen hundreds. I have some favourites lol

My favourite Halloween based movies are the Halloweentown movies and My Mom's On a Date with a Vampire. I watched that movie so much that my mom started to hate it.

I absolutely love - probably now considered "old school" horror films such as Halloween (Jamie Lee Curtis is awesome), Children of the Corn, Sleepaway Camp, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original)...use to watch Friday the 13th when they would have them on TV every Halloween in the States...
