Just to clarify. We only have to show 6 months of bank statements for the FLR(M) right? not 12?

For Category D Cash Savings, it’s always 6 months, whether it’s a fiancé visa, spousal visa, FLR(M) or ILR.

The other financial categories require either 6 or 12 months, depending on the category.

Ok! Nearly finished and ready to mail off. Do I have to use a prepaid return envelope to receive my documents back?

Not unless you want it returned by Special Delivery, in which case you need to include the pre-paid envelope, otherwise they'll send it recorded delivery.

You don’t need:
- Applicant’s Personal Statement
- Sponsor’s Personal Statement
- 2 passport photos of the sponsor... only 1 photo is required

You only need 6 items of correspondence addressed to the sponsor, so take out the other two. In fact, since you only have 1 in your name, you might only need to include 1 in your sponsor’s name too, dated at the same time as yours. The whole point is that each ‘item’ has both names... sending 6 items in only one name means nothing in regards to meeting the requirements.

What is the proof of construction costs? What do they have to do with meeting the relationship, financial or accommodation requirements?

The proof of construction costs just explains an influx of money that went into the account during the 6 months included in the bank statements. We explained it in the settlement visa application, so we thought we should have it in this as well.

Ah, okay - that should go with the bank statements then :).

It just read like it was related to your accommodation evidence.

we were curious about question 6.9 in our final check. we thought that it is not relevant to us since this is our first application for a leave to remain visa, but should we tick 'yes' because I was previously granted leave under the settlement marriage visa?

For 6.9, you have never been granted leave to REMAIN in the UK, because your marriage visa was leave to ENTER.

So, it’s asking: have you live together since your last FLR(M) was granted? If not, why not?

Since you have not applied for FLR(M) before, it doesn’t apply to you... so you just skip from 6.8 to 6.17.

And a quick double check. We're applying under category D alone and our 6 months of bank statements are now 7 days old. Is that going to be a problem? should we get a new stamped set with a date closer to the application submission? (we're mailing it today)

The bank statements should be no older than 28 days from your application date.  Sounds like you have a big buffer.  :)

Nope, they just need to be dated within 28 days of today.
