Same thought process. If they were going to kick up a massive fuss about it, I would've assumed they'd contact the person submitting the application or just give it a rejection as opposed to checking with the person who will be allowing the applicants to stay, but I've been wrong before. We'll find out soon enough!

** Final Update **
We've spent the first half of yesterday ambushing the DHL courier in the bushes. At approximately 12:00pm he arrived and handed us the envelope that contained the decision letter and passport.
Lo and behold - Our application has been successful and my partner's passport had been embedded with a shiny new vignette
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their assistance and support during the waiting period. It wasn't as easy and hassle free as we initially expected but it was worthwhile in the end
