Denny's!
« on: October 02, 2017, 02:48:53 PM »
I just had a Facebook post pop up that says Denny's is coming to the UK!

I am not sure how I feel about it, to be honest. Definitely not the best food by any means, although the breakfasts were alright. It was a decent enough place for my friends and me to go to after a night out  ;D

Where?
I can’t see it being the same, and if it’s different it will be crappy. I’m first in line!

Bet they won't have biscuits. Or grits.

Honestly, I don't think the UK needs Denny's. Any greasy spoon caf here will do at least an equal quality breakfast, and many are way better. In my small town, we have at least a dozen great places to get breakfast. Granted, it's not biscuits and gravy or thick pancakes, but a lot of British people think those are weird, so why try to force it?

If they want American food they can go to that ghastly Filling Station.

I think it's been over 20 years since I've been to Denny's.

A Denny’s without biscuits or grits is like a day without sunshine.

I agree with historyanne, UK breakfast is actually ok as it is for the most part.  The bits that I would like to see added, like grits, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, I just can’t see being done right.

Last time I went home, I went into a Waffle House for the first time in 10 years or so.  I was looking at the menu when the waitress comes up to take my order so I said “Give me a few more minutes, I haven’t been in a Waffle House for a while.” She said “I wish I could say the same!”

They only said on their Facebook that Swansea will be first, then across the UK after that. I do hope it is different than your average breakfast cafe, but I also hope it isn't like those American-themed diners that offer pancakes but they're topped with so much junk you don't even know there are pancakes underneath there. I want a simple shortstack with melted butter! Unless they did end up offer biscuits and gravy, in which case I would be there all the time!

Ugh, I LOVE Waffle House.  They just opened a new one right by my parents.  We didn't go, as I can't each much there at the moment.  Maybe next time!

A Waffle House in Clearwater?! I'll have to go next time I am there. I have only ever been to Waffle Houses off the interstate on road trips. I must have been so young because I don't actually remember the food so I'll need to go for research purposes, of course, to see if it's any good! If I go out for breakfast it's for pumpkin pancakes at IHOP or at Acropolis on Sunset Point Dr. (The BEST omelettes I have ever had!)

The new Waffle House is right next to Acropol at Sunset & 19.  I love Acropol but haven't had an omelette there.  But everything is always good!

I was always partial to a bit of 'moons over my hammy' at 3 am trying to soak up a booze filled night. But, meh, can't see why it needs to be here.   ???
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

I was more of a sampler person at 3am, with sour cream. So many drunk nights spent at Denny's. Good times.

I much prefer Waffle House though as a now sober person. Their food is usually pretty consistent across the board.
