Honestly even if I won enough where I wouldn't have to work, I would still want to work as I would be bored stiff..... For the first month I was in the UK job hunting (I got lucky and found a job that I started in month 2!), I was SO bored of sitting around the house and walking around the town centre. I LOVE Starbucks, but even I got bored of stopping by there daily LOL ONE CAN ONLY DRINK SO MANY EXPENSIVE LATTES! hahah. The ideal though would be to do something I enjoy that would literally just pay the bills at an absolute minimum - but I agree that I would pay off the mortgage first and foremost (and my outstanding student loans) -- totally forgot to mention that! I too am pretty happy where I am in terms of my house for the time being and I'm happy to use that equity when the time comes to move (as opposed to buying some crazy big mansion with my winnings). I like having a fair amount of space/garden, but within reason...I would never want some place that was genuinely too big, as nice as those places seem. there's only two of us and our pooch.....If I'm honest, I probably would spend money on another pooch....Faelynn needs another dog in the house....preferably a boyfriend she can boss around as she's clearly queen bee....LOL

I totally agree. If I won the lottery I would still need SOMETHING to do. I couldn't sit watching daytime telly all day. I'd have to have some sort of purpose.

If we had the millions, we'd buy properties here and in the UK and travel the world for a couple of years. I wonder how long it would take to see every country?? I'd love to be able to plan that trip!

Also, me and an online friend have a fast food tour of the world planned, so the millions would come in handy for that! :P

Our neighbors won the lottery when I was 10 years old, which was over 25 years ago.  They won $7 million.  They live in one of only two 2-bedroom homes in the neighbourhood, everyone has had a three or four bed.  They were early 30's when they won.  They paid off the mortgage and quit their jobs.  Still married and happy.  The only big thing they did was buy a boat, but not an extravagant one.  They lead a very happy, humbled life.

You've got to be in it to win it.

You all know what I would do.  I'd buy diamond earrings that are so big my earlobes would sag.   ;D

If you won the lottery you’d be surprised how many connections you would aquire.

The thing is, you will drastically change who you are as a person as time goes on.  We already have, you used to be a goth.  I used to be interested in partying and not having kids.

Too much money just makes those changes bad.

Did you hear about the woman who was suing the National Lottery because she said winning has ruined her life? According to this, she is sick of buying designer things. Poor girl.  ::) http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/britains-youngest-euromillions-winner-wants-9802119

Yeah, we'd probably do something like this, but would want to make sure that we could both have financial autonomy over it.
Really, if we won the lottery, our first decision would be to talk to a really good financial advisor and tax advisor familiar with US taxes, so that we can avoid the US govt.
Then we can dream of quitting jobs, etc.

Don’t take it!  Doesn’t anyone listen to me?  It’s just going to make you unhappy.
