The Book Club
« on: May 30, 2003, 10:46:14 AM »
Is anyone interested in getting something going? I'm wondering if we just pick a person to head the first "meeting". That person would pick, oh say 5 book titles, put up a poll to find out, of those willing to do it, which book they vote to read. Then they have one month to obtain the book and read it. Comments on the book begin when that month is done. Then another pserson is chosen to "head" the next one. What say everyone? (This book could also be part of a book exchange if we have fast readers.)

Suggestions, ideas?

Wench and I have been trying to plan out how we wanted to go about doing it. You said exactly what we were thinking. Only difference is we thought people could nominate what book they wanted to read and then we'd poll the nominations.

Sounds good...what types of books are we reading?  (Has fear of the Oprah-esque books). :-[

Count me in.  Love to read.  Might be a good way to get introduced to new books I might not have read!

While out today, I saw this cool shop and went into it.  They were selling penguin paperback classics for £1.50 each!!!!  From Austin to Conan Doyle all at £1.50 each!!  I'm definitely going back there and probably buying the whole place up! lol

Ack no!  Not Conan Doyle!  He's evil evil evil!  :P

Lol...I have strong feelings about Sherlock Freaking Holmes hehee. ;D

How about a combination of Lisa E and Ashley's ideas?  Pick a person (another poll?) let them pick 5 or so books, then we can throw in some nominations and then mebbe choose between them?

Or mebbe I should go back to sleep?

So....nominations for first captain of the book club?

Or shall I just stick some random names from those of you who've replied into a poll and make ya vote?

;D

Make it a poll...they're fun to set up ;D
BUT, for this first time/month, I'd like to ask to bow out of nominations. Things are just way too busy right now and I wouldn't be able to devote much time. I wouldn't mind volunteering for...September.
