Is anyone here interested in reviving the book club? Whatever happened to it, by the way? I'm new(ish) here and so I wasn't around then. It sounded like a great idea and from the posts, quite a few of you were enthusiastic about it.

Anyway, after reading the thread, I like the idea of one person heading it each month and nominating a few books for vote. What do others think?

Thoughts and ideas, please! Let's get this thing going!!!!    :)

I'd like to start it up again.  The idea just kind of faded, I don't think we really had real discussions about the books so it just became all of us reading the same book.

Were you planning on just all posting comments here, or was there ever going to be a scheduled monthly chat?

Yes I would be interested.  still not sure  how  to chat.  I cannot access the chat feature here...so there must be  another  way..

I've never used chat here before, but just tried it and it seems to work. However, we'd need a way that everyone would be able to use. With a little luck, we'll get a book lover who's also a techie and let him/her sort this all out for us!   :)

I'm good with classics  since they are easy  to find  and  always  interesting to talk over..

Non-fiction--  was  mentioned in  Metro the other  day..    Another Bullshit Night in Suck City--Nick Flynn   7.99 pounds

I want to be in on this.. underway yet??  :D

No, we're not started up yet. My fault -- I've been away for the past week. Anyway, it seems like we only have 4 people interested at present: me, azroomie, carla and saf. Is that enough? If you guys think it is, then let's get going! If not, how can we recruit more people?

Hey Bel-

If it's a purely  online  reading room and  we  just have to decide  book and time..and it's not  directly on  ukY..but on yahoo  or something.. w e  can get more people.. meaning if we  extend invitations  to non  UK connected  people.. we can get more  takers..  it's just a  matter of setting up WHEN it will  be..

just a thought..  KIT

You're right. So, we just have to find out if the few of us here can get on Yahoo. That's fine with me. And regarding a meeting time, I think once a month is good. For me, evenings are better -- but not Friday or Saturday. What about you? Maybe we can do a poll -- do you know how to set one up? If not, since there are only 4 of us so far, I can just PM the other 2.

You mentioned reading classics, which sounds great to me. There are so many I haven't read and feel I should have.

I like the idea.  Probably weekend will be better for people than weekdays. Saturday afternoons and evenings and most of Sundays are good for me. Anyone else?
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

Sorry about this guys, I've only just seen this thread.

I'd love to get the book club back up and running. It did sort of fade as it was getting difficult for some people to participate.

If you give me a week or so, I'll have a chat with Wench and tried to get this back up.
