And I think you have up to 48 hours to cook it once it's thawed, but I wouldn't push the envelope out that far - you can always reheat it, but food poisoning is not nice if you let it sit too long before you cook it!

This random website I just looked at says "You'll need to allow about 24 hours for each 4 to 5 pounds of frozen turkey you plan to thaw in the fridge."  So, that's one day for every 2 kg.
Thank you!  It's 4kg so I guess I only need 2 days.

Does it say on the package?
No :/

Oh, definitely.  I actually recently got my food safety qualification--I had been doing everything pretty much right at home (I don't actually deal with food at work but there IS food at work so we all get the certification) but now I'm super icked out by anything that isn't 100% correct.

We got the turkey home - it wouldn't fit in the freezer.  So it is now in our neighbour's freezer.   Our Family/friends Thanksgiving is going to be the 30th.

We have got a turkey crown (to test it and see what it is like) for the two of us for our own Thanksgiving this week.  But yesterday were told that the plumber can only come on Thursday to sort out our bathroom - so our own Thanksgiving is going to be Friday.

I got cans of Pumpkin from Amazon along with pumpkin spice.

We've got a Skype date with my parents and the 28 friends and family they're having over on Thursday, so our Thanksgiving dinner will be Wednesday with leftovers Thursday in the 30 minutes between with DH gets home from work and our Skype date.

DH and I are vegetarian so our Thanksgiving dinner (so far) will be:

cheesy mash
mushroom gravy
veggie sausages
lentils and spinach (because that's dinner tonight and there will definitely be leftovers)

I didn't think to get cranberries but I see the jars of Ocean Spray are on offer at Sainsbury's so I might head there tomorrow.

I'll be making pie tomorrow. I've got four tiny 7.5cm tins and will make one cherry, one apple and one pumpkin for us to share, plus a few little pumpkin pies to bring in to work.

I've got the afternoon off and I'm taking the whole family to Toby Carvery with an Ex work colleague and his family.  We've hung out a lot but the families have never met.  It's going to be like family meals in the US because talking politics is off the menu as he's a Trump voter.  I'm just going to enjoy the company and keep quiet.

We did a wee Thanksgiving in self catering.  That was funny.

Turkey breast, chicken gravy (they make gluten free Bisto now, so easy peasy cheating -hey we were on holiday), mashed potatoes, roasted turnip, roasted brussel sprouts, and roasted butternut squash.  And my Mom brought a tin of cranberry sauce from the US, so we had that too. We had mini supermarket pies (aka Mr. Kipling and Free From ones) as well.  Because it was easy to get gluten and dairy free ones and we were on holiday!

We Skyped family in the US as well and played board games. Was a really nice day.

Never did make the pumpkin pie, so even though family is now gone, I am going to make one, because I'm totally craving one now.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
