IHS number
« on: October 30, 2017, 10:15:50 AM »
Hello everyone!

I am very happy to say I am in the UK now with my hubby after getting my visa approved earlier this month  ;D

Now we are trying to get myself sorted out here. On looking into registering with a GP,
the form asks for an NHS number. My question is, is the IHS reference number I was given at the start of the application process the number I should write in where it asks for the NHS number?

Thanks in advance  :)

You don’t have an NHS number yet, so you should leave it blank.

An NHS number will be automatically assigned to you when you register with the GP, and you will be sent it in the post a few days later.

The NHS number is your unique identifier in the NHS computer system - it is used to track your medical records in the UK.
