As I near the end of BD 21 I wonder what the process is and I try to envision where my documents are. Are they sitting in a pile of other applications? Are they sitting on someone’s desk? But really I’ve got some actual questions...

1. They had to open the package when it arrived in order to email me confirmation of receipt, correct?

2. Is 21 BD normal? I know everyone in this lust is in the same boat. And I’ve got a few Oct. 9th buddies. But I was hoping I would have found out by now.

3. Is there a typical time of day that decision made emails are sent?

Same here love. I've read a few times that the average amount of time it takes is 5-6 business weeks, so we have this week and next week or else I will truly go mad LOL.

I thought about the priority last night and they have to open things to get your email to confirm with you so they would've had to see my VFS receipt and my return shipping. RIGHT?! Crossing my fingers that our date buddies get some news this week, I certainly need some good news

The only issue is that they sort the applications into Priority and Non-Priority as soon as they arrive in the mailroom, before they are opened. Then they open the ones in the priority pile first and send the emails, before getting to the non-priority pile.

So, if they didn't identify it as Priority to start with, it could take longer for them to get to it and open it, in order to realise that it's priority.

Once they see the VFS receipt they should then move it to the priority pile, but when they're really busy, it can take a couple of weeks longer for them to actually open the package and send the email compared to the priority applications.

Thank you for the info! I received a confirmation email as soon as they received it (says expedited on the envelope multiple times) so fingers crossed

There's no specified number of days that priority has to be processed within - all you are paying for is your application to be put to the front of the line when it arrives. That's it. After they've done that, all bets are off and it takes as long as it takes.

You're only supposed to contact them if you get beyond the service standards time of 12 weeks (60 working days). Over the summer, priority was taking about 30 working days or so... but it should hopefully be a bit quicker by now.

Never!  Never call them!

If you go over six weeks, contact your MP.  They can’t do anything either, but it’s the proper process.

Escalations are leprechauns.  They don’t exist.

I submitted on the 3rd Oct, tomorrow marks the 25th BD. Doesn't seem like they are going much faster at the moment :(

Guys I'm having a bit of a panic, feel like I've made a really silly mistake.. I wrote a letter confirming that my husband was to live with me in my rented accommodation. But didn't get a letter from my landlord.. I feel so stupid!
Can I get one now and send it in?? Will they put it together?? They received our application on the 1st Nov
Thank you for any advice

Did you send your lease? I would definitely get the letter ready in case they ask for it, they sometimes do. If you did go ahead and send it in unsolicited, there is no guarantee that it will get matched up with your application unfortunately but it might be worth trying.

Yes We sent my tenancy agreement and council tax records, but I've read a couple of place how important the letter is. I rent through an estate agent (who I am awaiting a reply) but I have no contact with the landlord.
So yes will send one and get another one ready.

Once your application is picked up by the Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) to process, the actual decision only takes maybe 1-2 hours.

So, almost your entire processing time is your application just sitting in line with all the other applications, waiting for someone to pick it up. It's likely that each ECO is assigned a pile of applications to work through, and each ECO will probably work through them at a different pace.

Thank you, you’ve made the process a bit less of a mystery! 😊
