Any idea why the confirmation email was sent so far after the documents arrived? When do you count the Bd from?

I count 27? Obviously we share the same day too.

Business days are counted from the date of the confirmation email.

If your timeline is right, it doesn’t seem long - only a couple of days.  We’ve seen in take two months during peak times!

Yeah, a couple of summers ago, the non-priority timelines were:
- Time to receive confirmation email after the documents arrived in Sheffield = 2 months
- Processing time after confirmation email sent = 2-3 months
Total time from documents arriving in Sheffield to visa being issued = 4 to 5 months

So, while it took 4-5 months in total, I believe the actual processing time was only calculated from the confirmation email being sent... so the processing times were still technically within the 12 weeks service standards time.

I can only imagine it was due to Christmas breaks. I've only begun counting business days from the 9th because of the knowledge provided to me here and the fact I've got official word stating that this is when processing begun

Oh man, that would make me stomp my feet! That’s an extra 9 BD! I saw another person wrote that they send their app in on the 27/12 and received the email on the 29/12. What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall in the Home Office, to verify the nonsense that I can only imagines creates scenarios like this. I feel like some applications literally fall behind a desk!

Well I hope yours gets done soon. Best of luck.

Yeah, it's genuinely devastating and doesn't make any sense. But what can you do.

Thanks for your kind words  :)

Strange question for the pros: Is it simply coincidental that most (if not all) decision e-mails lately have been received on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays?

Yeah, it must be coincidental. I have to say, I hadn't even noticed what days they were being received on.

Decision emails can arrive at any time. People have received them during the day, at random hours of the night, on the weekends... there's really no rhyme or reason to it.

I've noticed that Fridays are often good days for decisions but as ksand mentioned, they can come literally at any time!

Try to look forward to when he picks you up at the other end instead.  :)

That’s nice that he has been able to visit you. It’s been 4 weeks since I left the U.K., I guess if it gets to the end of March, we’ll have to swap our Spring holiday for a visit to California.

Has he written a letter to the MP? Can you think of any reason why it wouldn’t be straight forward? I know that email is used as a stall tactic, but I’m curious if they ever explain what wasn’t straight forward.
