So my husband messaged his local MP last Thursday. He replied this week on Monday saying...

"I am willing to do what I can to help with this matter and I have now made a formal enquiry to the Home Office on your behalf, in order to raise this case."

My husband then asked him how long it takes to receive an answer from from the Home Office. The MP replied with this message...

"I understand that the Home Office's service standard for responding to MP's is usually 20 working days, which is four weeks. However, unfortunately, the Home Office often take longer than this.

I understand that this is a long delay, but please be reassured that I have taken this up with the Home Office, and my office recently met with senior staff members to raise this issue.

However, I will be in touch with you again when I do receive this response, and, as ever, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you should require any further help and I will be more than happy to do what I can."

It was reassuring that he was so helpful and replied so quickly to us and even brought it up with other staff members. I know a few of us here have contacted our MP's recently. Even if there have been no answers from the UKVI and its BD 45 for us we felt a little more hopeful having this response from him. Our 1 year wedding anniversary is coming up in 6 weeks and we're just booking hotels with free cancellation to prepare for the worst case scenario in case I don't make it over by then.

20 days really? We thought it was 28 days. We still haven't heard from my husband's MP yet. My husband was waiting for those 28 days to pass before he contacted them again, it'll be 28 days on the 9th.  But we are hoping he can at least tell us why we are waiting. If we knew why, maybe it would make it easier? Lol. BD 42 for us, well almost 43 and the wait is just agonizing.

Our MP gave us the same timeline when we reached out initially as well. 4 weeks for a reply. I'm not sure if this is for emails or callls but I believe that our MP emailed for initial contact.

The experts will probably have more info on this and our initial contact did take all of the 4 weeks for a reply.

Maybe it's 28 calendar days?

20 working days = 28 calendar days = 4 weeks

I recently contacted my MP and she suggested that 20 working days is the normal timeline for UKVI to respond to MP correspondence but at the moment that they are taking longer than that.

20 business days to reply to a MP is standard for email contact.  The MP's DO have access to a separate call line where they get a MUCH faster response.  Definitely request your MP's call and not email.

So, I have just joined the wait.

Package should arrive on Monday 5th March.

Priority processing

Online Application: 25/02/2018
Biometrics: 02/03/2018
Package sent: 02/03/2018

We were so focused on getting everything ready on the inside, that we forgot to put priority processing on the outside - how big a deal will this make? 😐
Married: 31/12/2017
Biometrics: 28/02/2018

Their website specifies it's very important to put "priority" on the external package/UPS envelope or they won't realize the package is priority & it may result in a delay.
It seems that, with a disclaimer of that sort, it's quite important. If it makes you feel better, though, there isn't a whole lot of faith in the expediency of the process anyway. It sort of seems like a gamble no matter what.
At this point, all you can do is wait. That said, welcome to the forum!
