Fingers crossed! We are on BD 25 and hoping to hear soon. Our biggest fear at the moment is to get a "not straightforward" email and have to wait for another 30 BD.

And you’d be right imo....We’d rather have a fixable refusal and go again rather than the ‘not straightforward’ we received 38 BDs ago.

Yes. Apparently though, with a refusal, you may get into trouble if you want to go and visit. UKVI can refuse entry on border I hear because you intend to come and live here (evident by the settlement application) and they may deem that you might not go back. I have read in other places that you need to apply for a visitor visa and then fly to the UK. A whole other level of complications. So I'm not sure if I'd be happier if I get outright rejected.

Since we’ve been stuck on the ‘not straightforward’ I’ve seen one apply, receive a decision, be refused and applied again. So I’d rather take the ‘fixable’ refusal every day personally.

I wouldn't wish for that, there's nothing to say that the next application wouldn't take as long, or longer!
I really hope this is your week!  :)

I guess it's me @SOUTHERNBOY123  ;D  Well, I want to tell you it's better to wait and get the approval, than quick rejection. We reapplied, but I am only at the beginning of the queue as of now, only 7 business days. And you are at the end of this terrible process. I am sure your decision will arrive soon. While for us we don't expect any decision till 6th of June... And I am not going to call them or write emails, as I did stupidly with my first application.

Southernboy, is there a genuine reason why you’re application isn’t straightforward, or you reckon it’s just a stalling tactic on HO’s part, if you don’t mind me asking?

That is the frustrating part they do not tell you. We were on this forum for months before we applied gathering all the info we needed and the info that UKVI don’t tell you. When we applied we believed it would sail through as we crossed every T and dotted every i. However this is clearly not the case. Possible reasons in our case could be A. I (UK sponsor) am serving military so we applied under appendix armed forces but have been told on here that should not make any difference at all. B. My stepson, perhaps they’re checking the custody out, again all that is in order and evidenced in the application. The simple truth is we don’t know, and as I’ve bemoaned on here more than once, we’ve been this way for 38 BDs! What takes nearly two months to check out!!!

Wow, I sympathise, it’s one thing having a delayed application because of an obviously complex situation, quite another when your situation sounds pretty straightforward.

They’ve not even reached out to you asking for clarification or additional documents etc?

No, nothing. Just ‘not straightforward’ and that was the 25 January.

Visa approved!!!!!!

I'm terrified they will refuse me because we forgot the letter from fiancé's property company saying I can live there. He is part owner so it didn't really occur to us until we'd sent the package in.
Would they have asked for it if everything else was fine? Is it grounds enough for a refusal? This process... ugh

Congratulations :D!

See, nothing to worry about :).

There's a reason why we advise not to stress over the application until you actually know there's something to stress about (i.e. after you have the passport and documents back). Because otherwise all of the anxiousness ends up being for nothing at all :).
