Yay! Congrats Brian1010014!

I was thinking about all the things I will miss in California once we move to the UK. So today my son and I did a very Californian thing and enjoyed lunch at In-N-Out Burgers. He loves fries (chips) just like mum!

What a cutie!

question for those who have got their visa:

do you get a letter from home office with your stuff, or just the visa in your passport?  do you only get a letter if you are rejected? just curious.

Fiance visa is just the sticker in the passport.

Spouse visa is the sticker in the passport plus a letter telling you when and where to collect your BRP.

No, BRP won't be issued until after you marry and switch to FLR(M).  A BRP states right to work information and NHS information.  Neither of which are applicable to a fiance visa.

Only visas valid MORE than 6 months get a BRP card.

Fiancé visas are valid 6 months, so they are issued as just a 6-month visa sticker in the passport and you can enter at any time in the 6 months. Then when you marry and switch to a 30-month FLR(M), it will be issued as a BRP instead of a passport sticker.

Spousal visas are valid 33 months so they are issued in 2 parts:
- 30-day entry vignette in the passport... so you have to enter within those 30 days
- 33-month BRP card, which is the actual visa, picked up from a Post Office in the UK within 30 days of arriving

Are BRP cards new? I received two tier 4 stickers in my passport (both for 12 month courses). The latest was for Sept 2013 - Sept 2014. Then got my BRP card when I switched to FLR(M). Have they completely done away with the visa stickers even for students? I can’t keep up!

Fairly new -  they started issuing BRPs for entry clearance visas from May 31st 2015.

So, if you were to apply for a Tier 4 valid more than 6 months now, you would get a 30-day vignette and a BRP.

If you saw the weather here this week, you'd see that productivity across the UK has dropped massively!   ;D

Hang in there.  It'll happen and you'll forget all about the wait!
