Apparently if you have in excess of a million in the bank you don’t need to do the visa exercise, hearsay though!

Definitely not true.

If you are not a UK or EU citizen (for the moment), whether you have a million in the bank or nothing at all in the bank, you still need a visa to live in the UK.

Is there a way I can have UPS hold my package for me at the nearest depot to pick up?

I think some people have managed that. Give them a call.  :)

I'm so happy for you! I know you've been stressed so this is fantastic news <3 Keep us posted on the outcome (tho I'm sure it's a yes!)!

Also, you should be able to have UPS hold it - my husband does that sometimes when we won't be around to answer the door.

Not true!  :). And how would they know that you have a million pounds unless you submit proof? No, you need a visa.  ;D

This conversation is reminding me of something another friend mentioned when we were talking about this whole visa process and whether or not being wealthy/famous/politically important would make a difference: Meghan Markle is American, are they going to make her go through all of this? How exactly is Prince Harry going to submit his income qualifications?? Which visa do you think they'll go for? We had a pretty big laugh imagining all the scenarios, and now one of my favourite lines to grumble when I'm feeling down is "I bet Meghan Markle won't have to put up with any of this waiting..." But she should have to put up with it. I can't wait for the paparazzi photo captioned "Ms. Markle sits at home in Toronto, checking her email and a few helpful chat forums as she awaits news from UKVI..."
