This conversation is reminding me of something another friend mentioned when we were talking about this whole visa process and whether or not being wealthy/famous/politically important would make a difference: Meghan Markle is American, are they going to make her go through all of this? How exactly is Prince Harry going to submit his income qualifications?? Which visa do you think they'll go for? We had a pretty big laugh imagining all the scenarios, and now one of my favourite lines to grumble when I'm feeling down is "I bet Meghan Markle won't have to put up with any of this waiting..." But she should have to put up with it. I can't wait for the paparazzi photo captioned "Ms. Markle sits at home in Toronto, checking her email and a few helpful chat forums as she awaits news from UKVI..."

Maybe she's on here lurking as we speak!  ;)

Nope. I’m assuming because the email came late in the day (4:30pm UK time), that it won’t be updated till tomorrow??

They only collect the packages once a day, usually around 4pm, so if the tracking hasn't been updated yet (it's almost 8pm in the UK now), then I'd say your package won't be picked up until at least tomorrow afternoon/evening, possibly even Thursday afternoon/evening, depending on how many packages are waiting.

She probably has to have a visa of some kind, but as a celebrity and wealthy she could do one of the other ones... Haha.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Aren't the rules different for the Royal Family anyway? If she marries the prince I am sure she won't be going through this process, but has likely had to endure much more intrusive background checks.

I don't think any of the royals have married an American since the rule change. Haha. I wonder if he'd want to be seen as one of the people and go through the same thing as the rest of the citizens?

The Queen doesn’t have a passport.  Definitely different rules.

But yeah, I suspect a prospective royal bride has a MUCH more intrusive process than any of us.  I suspect Kate had to be checked that she could bear children for one....

Is there a way I can have UPS hold my package for me at the nearest depot to pick up?

We signed up for UPS MyChoice which allows you to do this online. Not sure if you had to have it before the UPS tracking number was created, but we're hoping ours will be sent to the nearest UPS store.
