Applying from : Florida, USA
Cost of application : 2059 GBP
Cost of Health Surcharge fee: 876 GBP
Type of visa applied for : Settlement—Wife
Priority / Non-Priority : non priority
Date On-Line application submitted : 15 March 2018
Date biometrics taken : 23 March 2018 in Tampa, Florida
Date supporting documents sent to Sheffield: 23 March 2018
Cost of using VFS Courier service for delivery and return to Florida : 265 GBP
Acknowledgement email from Sheffield, UK : 28 March 2018
Email sent to Decision Making Centre for status update: 23 May 2018
Email response from Decision Making Centre: 24 May 2018 : "application process continuing to making a decision." - useless!
Emailed to local MP in UK : 27 May 2018 requesting status check with UKVI
MP responded : 30 May 2018 : "application process continuing to making a decision. Contact them if decision not made after 60 working days".
Now at Working Day 47

UKVI website reports during April 2018:
3% of applications dealt with in 3 days
66% in 5 days
67% in10 days
71% in 15 days
83% in 30 days
90% in 60 days
100% in 90 days

Really concerned UKVI have our original documents: passports, birth certificates, marriage certificates and we have had no contact from them since the original acknowledgement email. UKVI did inform our MP if we really needed the passports they could, for a fee, send them back to us - but it would need to be for a really serious issue like a death!
So we enter another week of waiting....

Hi thompa, welcome to the forum.  :) Unfortunately, for a non-priority application, you are still well within the expected time frame, and too early to involve your MP.
The timelines you have quoted are for those decisions made in April, and comprise both priority and non priority so are useless in terms of predicting the wait for an individual case. The email and call line are useless and a waste of money.

If you ask for the return of your passports, this will automatically void your application so whatever you do, do not do that!

Best thing to do, is hang out in the non priority thread where you will have plenty of support and company during the rest of your wait. Hopefully it's not too long now!  :)

Oh, and those prices you've quoted, they are not correct,... do you mean $ rather than £?

Welcome!  I’m from Clearwater!

Non-priority will take at least 60 business days or at least three months.  Likely to stretch longer this time of year, unfortunately.  With a bit of luck you’ll hear this month, but I’d expect a July/August decision.

My mistake.
Yes - amounts should be in US dollars: $2059 application fee and $876 Health Service surcharge.

Thanks for picking that up.
Just so frustrating to have no communication from them. It would be nice to know what they were doing, who they contact. Have no problem with that, but we are both retired on fixed pension incomes.. would have thought our situation would be easier to deal with than most.
Our MP was very responsive and commiserated with us.
Will keep hoping for a resolution soon.
Allan

It takes a maximum of about two hours to process an application.  The trouble is, there are other applications in front of yours so it simply hasn’t been picked up.  And unfortunately as timeline grow, mor people will pay priority, this “bumping” you further back.

I assure you that as soon as your number is up, it’ll be processed likity split and you’ll be on your way.   :D

Completely understand your frustration but, at the moment, all your application is doing is sitting in line. Sometimes they send out an email to say the application is "not straightforward" which nine times out of ten, simply means that they are not keeping to their service standards and are buying themselves more time. Very occasionally applicants will be asked for further information. But apart from that, all you will hear from UKVI is that they have received your application and, later, that a decision has been made.

I’d imagine you’re not far off. I applied (and Sheffield received) quite near several other people. They heard back, then 2-3 weeks later I received my decision made email. In my opinion, generally speaking, you hear in order of other people.
