I contacted the MP same day as the email. Just received a letter in the mail today saying that he’s contacted UKVI and will update us when they receive a response.

We contacted our MP this weekend. We are on BD 36 tomorrow - we anticipated 40 BD because of a previous refusal but I thought I would just get the ball rolling, thinking it would take a long time to get a response from our MP. To my surprise, he emailed me tonight, on a Sunday! He asked for a signed letter of consent so he could contact UKVI on my behalf (we sent the email from my husband's account so he basically wanted permission for him to discuss my case with my husband). He said he will get in touch on our behalf this week so fingers crossed.

Good luck everyone!

May I ask about your previous refusal? Only because we're in a similar situation, so it might be useful to both of us to see if it has any impact.

We were refused twice for a visit visa, after an entry refusal in 2016. On the third attempt, after providing extensive documentation we did eventually get the visit visa, used it and carefully adhered to the rules, all of which perhaps will help. This is our first spouse visa application.

We're on bd 37 tomorow (Monday).
Country: USA (Seattle)
Visa: Settlement - Spouse (Wife)
Priority: Yes
Visa office: Sheffield, UK

Biometrics (USCIS Seattle): 15 Jun 18
Documents at Sheffield (ParcelForce): 20 June 2018
Email "prepared for consideration by ECO": 27 Jun 18
Email "did not include airway bill": 27 Jun 18
Call to escalate after 30bd: twice, no reply

Email "decision made": 3 Sep
Documents returned (to UK): 5 Sep
Passport received (UPS): 5 Sep

(48th bd from "application being prep'd for ECO" email.)

Visa valid from: 10 Sep
BRP pickup from: 17 Sep

We applied before we found this wonderful community....instead we hired a solicitor with a great reputation. Unfortunately he was absolutely clueless! He didn't send in my husband's employment contract that we had provided him, and didn't address 2 small payroll discrepancies, which were easily explained. We gave him the documentation he needed to explain them but he didn't bother including it, or addressing the problem. So on that basis we were refused. We submitted our first application in February, and I"m still stuck in the US without my husband!

Hey we are on 35BD now. I got in contact with my local MP and got a message the next day saying the application was not straightforward. They said we need to send my May bank statement to show that the May payslip had entered the account as we had not proven this in our documents. We did, in fact, send this the first time, so it all seems a little odd. I am going to scan over what they asked for again on Monday. Hopefully, we all get those Yes decisions through soon.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. That is really odd. Hopefully with your MP being involved, it'll be sorted out soon. Maybe they were just trying to get out of the projected timeline. The joys of bureaucracy!
FLR(M) Timeline:
Application type: Spouse settlement visa extension (super priority)
BRP expiration: Late May 2021
Online application submitted: April 14, 2021
Biometrics appointment: April 25, 2021
Decision made: April 26, 2021 - emailed at 1:40 pm

So, we are waiting to hear back and hopefully will hear something this week. Has anyone had any experience with contacting their MP and getting any info? Finding it really hard to cope these last couple of weeks. All help is appreciated!

Hello! Just wanted to say that our application took around 39 BD until we got our approval and we did contact our MP. the MP did not ask for us to sign a permission form of any sort. I simply got a phone call from their office, and the lovely lady that called me explained that the MP had called to inquire about our case and been told that my husband's visa had just been approved (hmm). His passport with vignette arrived three days later!

MP's used to be able to help, but they usually get the runaround just like us these days.  Unfortunately too many people took the "contact MP" route for UKVI to care anymore.  ;)

This is interesting , pretty sure it's not an isolated incident! Wonder how many people do this. I guess nothing is fool proof.

When I renewed my visa in 2015, I had to wait about 6 hours for the computer system that links to HMRC to come up before they could process applications (was an expensive in person appointment).  UKVI now checks the wage slips tie to what was reported to HMRC.  So for at least the last few years, fake payslips are no longer able to slip through.

What sucks if we've seen members had visas refused because their payslips didn't match HMRC's records.  They worked for corrupt/crooked companies.  ::)

Why would there be a discrepancy in payslips and HMRC records if it all adds up  ??? If there is something wrong with HMRC, shouldn't they be penalized for it. Seems a bit unfair

Some employers report incorrect information to HMRC and pocket the difference.  EXTREMELY rare.  But does happen.  Tax evasion is older than dirt!

Part of my training at my new job included spotting fake documents, including payslips, identity documents and bank statements. It's impressive what people try to get away with, and how good some of them are! But photoshop actually helps identify fakes now. I'm sure some still slip through the cracks but thats why the extra checks are in place!

That's amazing! When did you apply? I'm hoping we get the same results.

HMRC's RTI system was brought in around then to catch the dishonest people; immigration crime, welfare fraud etc. They often carry out sweeps on RTI for UKVI e.g. check those on a work visa are getting the salary stated on their Certificate of Sponsorship.
