Use the written information the MP received and contact the financial ombudsman.
It looks like the financial ombudsman is only for banks and other financial institutions. Is this the correct agency or is there another one I’m missing?

She flies home on 17 Sep. Thank goodness. What an ordeal.

Thanks to everyone for your support and advice, especially those on a similar timeline who posted their info and the handful of veteran regulars -- it helped a lot.

Congratulations!!!!

Do any of you know if I have to apply for a national insurance number? Or if that is something I can do when I start looking for a job? As I am expecting in January I will not be working for awhile. So is that something that can wait until I do plan to get a job in the future or do I have to apply as soon as I get my BRP?

You can wait. It isn't required unless you are employed.

The good part about doing it right away is that you can use it as proof of address if you're having a hard time getting added to bills and bank accounts. I used it as my proof :)

May end up doing it right away anyway and maybe then having the option of working like 10 hours a week during the rest of the pregnancy.

So my wife just looked over the paperwork UKVI sent her, and it says we're on the 10 year settlement route??

We definitely met the financial requirements visa cash savings, we made no attempt to apply on compassionate grounds, is this a mistake?? Is it a common mistake? Anyone know who we contact about getting it fixed?

Is the letter addressed to your wife? Are the details on the vignette correct? Can you type out the letter or attach an image, removing personal details so we can see exactly what it says?

Best to start a new thread.

Welcome and congratulations!  :)

If you stick with us, there will be no need for you to use a lawyer next time!

There are experts on this and other forums. We could/should have done better documenting our financials and accommodation on our 1st submission. I’m not sure anyone would have known what extra we needed for our house at the time. I imagine I will continue to consult this forum for other things going forward. Funnily enough, we live in the DC area, which has the largest concentration of lawyers in the US, so it was a bit strange that we didn’t initially consult someone - especially as we know a lot of lawyers! I don’t mind paying for expertise or piece of mind. I’m sure the process to get a US green card has changed significantly from when we did it ourselves 22 years ago, the stakes seem higher and wouldn’t want to just leave it to chance. And that could just be the older person in me talking.

Thanks to everyone who posted their timelines and kept me from outwardly going insane! Best of luck to everyone still waiting.

I'm glad you found a lawyer that you were happy with but on this forum we have seen far more harm done to applications by lawyers than otherwise.
Unless you have complicating factors such as a recent criminal history,  or an overstay or have been dishonest with UKVI in the past, there is really no need to use one. In the absence of complicating factors, if you provide the correct evidence, you will get the visa.  :)

After the letter saying imminent decision yesterday, we received decision made email :30 ago. It’s killing me to know I have to wait to find out something this important. But at least we know it’s coming.

Great news though! Ridiculous wait for a 'priority' visa but you'll forget all about it if the news is positive. Good luck!
