It only has to be MAILED within 5 days - it doesn’t have to arrive within 5 days.

We’ve actually had a couple people mail theirs a whole month after biometrics, and it wasn’t an issue.

Thank you so much...I was worried about the 1 day, didnt have any clarification. Although I do have a friend who lives in London and he said it's the date I mail it that's important.

Yeah I wasn't expecting it to land in my inbox from my spouse either so soon, especially with the transition period currently happening.

Just a quick question, the premium (1900$ service) does that includes the cost of the priority processing as well yes? Not sure if it is something we would do, but want to have as much information in as possible for March. :) From reading the site, it would appear it is part of the package. :)

Even when life seems at it's most dark and despairing.. there is within the power to make change.

It does. It includes priority, shipping and is supposed to also include:
- document checks
- option to keep your passport while processing

However, the few people who have used the service before have said that the staff at the appointment didn’t seem to know what they were doing and that it wasn’t worth the money, since all you really seemed to be paying for was an extra $1100 just to be able to keep your passport! More recently it does seem like processing is a little quicker with the $1900 service, but you’re still looking at 6 weeks to 2 months, and personally, if I was paying that much for it, I would expect 24-hour processing!

So I purchased this package. This includes basically everything you need including priority processing. what happens is the following:

-Submit application
-Make appointment at VFS center - bring all the documents with you
-You'll get your biometrics completed and they'll scan the docs for you on the same day - you can either return back the same day to pick up your docs or they'll send it to you once they're done scanning
-You have the option of keeping your passport or they can keep it for you
-And that's about it.

Settlement package in my opinion surpasses the NY scanning doc center - but i don't know if it's really worth 1900$. The regular priority is around 580$ so basically you're paying triple for keeping passport, skipping NY part of it, and a 30day guarantee?

Today is 5 weeks since my app was delivered in NY. I’m sure part of it is the holidays but the wait is finally starting to make me sad & I’m missing my husband more than ever.  :-\\\\

Seems like my ambitious goal of having an answer by Thanksgiving isn’t going to happen but hopefully one of us will hear something soon!

- 30day guarantee?

Did you actually read that somewhere? AFAIK, there is no guarantee, even with the Settlement Premium Package.

That's awesome, there is some hope after all. Just read a horrible post about this lady. Shes now out 6k and all she wanted was a transit Visa for her and her family.

Yeah, there is no 30-day guarantee - that's just the target they've set for processing all priority applications, whether they go through New York or a premium centre - the premium service simply includes the same settlement priority service that everyone else who pays $793 gets.

In fact, when the Settlement Premium Service was introduced, it was taking MUCH longer than regular priority. Back in January, we had normal priority applications acknowledged by Sheffield in 2 days and processed in 2 weeks, while if you used the premium service, it would take 2-3 weeks for Sheffield to acknowledge your application and another 1.5 months to get the visa.

Also,  with the premium service, you're not really 'skipping the NY part'... you're just having your documents go through the same scanning process as in NY, just at a different location.

So, really, all you're paying the extra $1100 for is the option to keep your passport (and maybe get your visa a week or two earlier than if you'd only paid $793).

That's awful! What happened?

There was someone here on the forum a few years ago who was advised by the UKVI 'helpline' to apply for a spousal visa before she was married(!)... she did, and also applied for dependant visas for her 3 kids as well, and, not surprisingly, they were all refused, because she didn't qualify for a spousal visa, due to not being married yet. She lost over £4,000 in visa fees because UKVI told her to apply for the wrong visa :(.

Hopefully you will hear something soon. You are almost at the finish line..

My hopefull timelines are between the week of December 26th (30wds) or the Week of February 4th (60wds).

February for me would be sad because we kinda wanted to have my daughters 3rd bday in  London.

I think, for me, if I was to do the premium, it would be only because i could be certain the docs have been uploaded. However, I've read today of at least 1 person who has been able to upload the documents themselves. So... maybe the online system is getting worked out to be able to upload all documents instead of mailing them to NY. We can hope. :)
