However, I've read today of at least 1 person who has been able to upload the documents themselves. So... maybe the online system is getting worked out to be able to upload all documents instead of mailing them to NY. We can hope. :)

I thought you COULD now upload them all yourself anyway? It's just that we didn't think you should be able to uet, because that's not what the instructions tell you to do, and as far as we know, you're still supposed to mail everything to them.

In fact, we've had a couple of people unable to buy priority and shipping labels because in order to complete the purchase, they were being forced to upload documents that they didn't want to upload. In the end, they just uploaded a blank sheet with a line saying they would be mailing the documents in, just to get to the payment screen.

That's awful! What happened?

There was someone here on the forum a few years ago who was advised by the UKVI 'helpline' to apply for a spousal visa before she was married(!)... she did, and also applied for dependant visas for her 3 kids as well, and, not surprisingly, they were all refused, because she didn't qualify for a spousal visa, due to not being married yet. She lost over £4,000 in visa fees because UKVI told her to apply for the wrong visa :(.
She applied for transit visit to go on vacay with her family. She was suppose to be flying tomorrow. Now that all application are going to NYC, she sent her application there (for her and her family)

She hasnt received her passport back and now have to cancel the entire trip.

I've screenshot everything below. Let me know if you can read it.

I have no idea if they are supposed to or not, but my understanding is that you get a link to upload if you want to. Personally I would love for this to be an option going forward. It would alleviate much of the stress of never knowing if your docs were received or not.
Even when life seems at it's most dark and despairing.. there is within the power to make change.

I just applied on Monday and it gave me the option to upload myself or send to NYC. I chose the send to NYC option and it did not make me upload anything so I think they got that glitch fixed.

Is it too late to upload our documents? I think it was a link. Wonder if it's still active?

I had to upload something before I could continue, I just uploaded the Sponsor letter.. didn't know what else to do.
It would have taken a while to put everything in the right order to upload it all.

Maybe it'll let you go back in and change it if you haven't' sent your docs out yet? I'm afraid to touch anything on there at this point now that the app is submitted. I trust myself in scanning the docs correctly but I don't trust them in receiving them from me without some kind of problem arising so I chose to mail them in.

I don't understand why she would book flights without her Visa and passport.. What is a transit visa, I have never heard of that.
Oh, it seems, they should have kept the system as it was, at least till the New Year and then beta test it on just a few.  But, that all said, hopefully they will get it all sorted out soon so we can all go home  :)

hmm, that's odd for some to have to and some not, but like you said maybe they got the glitch worked out even though we did ours the same day  :)

A transit visa is for people who are transiting through a UK airport en route to another country, but are visa nationals, which means they cannot enter the UK without a visa. Therefore, they have to apply for either a Direct Airside Transit visa which lasts for 24 hours (if they are just changing flights and not going through UK border control), or a Visitor in Transit visa which lasts for 48 hours (if they will be going through UK border control).

One of the requirements for a transit visa is that you already have a flight booked, with proof of your onward travel.

See: https://www.gov.uk/transit-visa

She had no choice, she had to book the flights. Its literally a 3 hours lay over. So she and her family probably not even leaving the airport.

That's all really sad though, alot of money wasted.

In that circumstance, she should have made sure that she bought flights which could be changed.
