Yes, that would be your argument in favour of a refund.  :)
I'm waiting on our decision and then I will initiate the refund and screenshot my evidence.

Going back several years to when processing happened in New York, the decisions came by email. Most people preferred it that way and thought it was kinder because you knew much sooner and didn't have to suffer waiting through the last few days until the package arrived.

So if they are changing back to doing that, it's probably a good thing for most!  :)

Blows my mind as to why they would change that. It’s a cruel game having to wait for your passport to know. Her passport has arrived in her city, so hopefully it will be in her hands today.

I’ve also seen that refusals take much longer to process? What do you think?

Yes, refusals take longer.

For an approval they just have to look through the documents, tick them off on their list and issue the visa... only takes 1-2 hours.

However if an application falls for refusal they will do some or all of the following:
- contact the applicant to ask for extra documents (which can add several days right away)
- double-check every document again
- refer the case to a supervisor
- carry out extra checks with government departments
- if there have been previous refusals, they will have to look into the reason(s) for those refusals to make sure the problems have been addressed
... all of which can add extra days/weeks to the processing time

That’s not to say that if an application takes a long time to be processed that it will be refused - it might just be a busy time for Sheffield.

What it does mean though is that fast decisions are almost never refusals.

Yes but in our cases or mine the mp specifically told me my children applications is standard. Meaning I paid for a service I'm not even receiving.

I question this.  As the 3 applications will be together as there is a single set of supporting evidence.  There wouldn’t be one app in one pile and two in the other...

That's what the mp read from the email he received from home office. Those are there words not mine.

I sent everything in 1 package, but maybe my evidence was scanned 3 times, with this new upload system? How else would they see the evidence for my children?

If I had used the new upload system I assumed I would have had to upload the evidence 3 seperate times, so I assumed that's what they had to do as well.

They should have scanned everything together, for all 3 applications at the same time, because they should essentially be treated as one application... due to the financial and accommodation evidence having to cover all 3 people (because of the higher financial requirement for a spouse and 2 children and the larger accommodation needed).

So they should have scanned:
- application 1
- application 2
- application 3
- all the documents

This would be the common sense way to scanning and making everything easier, as the evidence links us all.

I'm at 41wds now so basically standard processing. Praying the mp stepping in will get me some traction.

I don't think they're using any common sense practices in the scanning. When I got my packet back earlier this week everything was out of order and some of the papers were crumpled up. A couple even looked like they started feeding them into a shredder and then pulled them out last minute! No respect whatsoever.

This makes sense, thanks for the detailed response. Passport wasn’t delivered yesterday, it’s scheduled for tomorrow. Anticipating good news but it’s so crazy that you actually just never know... until you know!
