Sorority hazing... lol. I so agree.

If you can't make it through this process it will be extremely difficult to make it through years of the red tape that is the UK, for nearly everything.

I had to wait nearly 6 months for a referral and treatment for anaemia. The treatment took 15 minutes x 2 appointments.

I have chronic anaemia and will require further treatments.  Do you think my specialist can just call hematology and make an appointment for me? Nope. It all has to be done through the post.

So I received a letter from my specialist with my test results. She has to request an appointment with hematology through the post. Then I will receive another piece of mail with an invitation to make an appointment.  This will probably take a total of 3-4 weeks to get accomplished. This is a 5 minute process in the US.

Want to apply for your provisional license? You can fill out the application online then they send it to you in the post. You need to fill it out, send it in along with your BRP through the post.

Life in the UK is a test. You need to build a thick skin and have the patience of a saint of you won't enjoy your time here.

I'm from and have lived in a third world country and the UK reminds me of that. I have alot of family in the UK and my mom has been there forever. So I know how backward it all is.

Everytime I order a package for delivery in the UK I'm reminded how backwards it all is. My husband have to stay home all day just to get a package and that's why I've stopped ordering items until I'm there (my chain of thought was to get ahead of the decorating) .

I just hate this feeling of stuck and with my passport gone I'm exactly that. Stuck...literally.

I am sorry for your anemia .    I am learning how long it takes with my DH and his medical appointments.
It will all work out, and  it is a learning experience.. I appreciate the hard work you all do here to calm our thoughts and fears  :)

You ARE priority though.  Priority gets your application to the front of the queue - which you know yours is as you’ve had that confirmed through your emails and your MP.  Priority does not guarantee a processing time.  Over the summer (peak), priority takes about 9 weeks.  Every year.  It’s never as long over the holidays, but it definitely goes over 6 weeks every year.  Unfortunately you guys are the ones caught up in it.

Do know that we GET it.  We’ve all been there.  But we do try to encourage you guys to try to keep busy, put it at the back of your mind as best as possible, and to not throw away good money.  But if it gives you piece of mind, go for it.  Just know that frequently “the email/call line” give wrong information (saying a decision has been made when it hasn’t, sending people into a tailspin of panic when they don’t get the decision email for another month, just to discover the information given was incorrect and the visa was only JUST issued).

It’s a cruel, horrible process that needs transparency.  We all agree.  And we all HATE UKVI.  But unfortunately, this is just a taste of how frustrating it can be to live in the UK.  It’s like a sorority hazing.   ;D
I cant keep any busier really, my apartment is pretty decluttered... and I've started to pack and my husband is about to jump on a flight to help with the last pieces of this move.

I'm in the limbo, stuck and bored phases. I have no food to eat that I'm going to miss (I'm not from here and dont like the food that much) , nowhere to go that I'm really going to miss. I would prefer to have my passport so I could go home and enjoy that.

I'm just in the I need to move and get my kids in school phase.

I don't know that it is backward. It's just very different. Not an Instant gratification kind of place and for people who are used to that instant gratification, it can be shocking and disruptive.

I learned my first week here not to leave anything until the last minute. You have to plan well ahead and be prepared to wait. It's just how it is.  Not bad, just different.

That's how my home country is. Hence why I said I can relate.

3rd world isnt all bad but it does lack the instant gratification, you have to plan ahead for alot.

My home country was once ruled by the British. We have alot of there systems still and mannerisms. Hence why I said it's like a 3rd world country. Our structure is still based on them.

3rd world doesnt mean all bad.

I use to live up North and then I moved down south (it's like I went back in time) and when I ask anybody from up North we always have the same notes.

I've rewired myself several times I will be fine.

From my perspective
I am a dual citizen UK/US and hubby is originally from South Africa  and is the one applying for his UK spousal visa as an American citizen. I am still in the US with my hubby while we wait for the decision. We have been married 27 years and I have no intention of going back to the UK without him.
I have lived in the UK and trained /worked as a nurse in the UK . I have also worked here in the USA as a nurse for 30 years.
Have to say I prefer the UK  health care system and can say that confidently since I have lived and worked in both systems.
There is a reason why we are choosing to go to the UK and I am sure we all have different reasons.
Would I consider the UK backward no.
It took 7 years for my husband to get the right to work in the USA so having to wait 6 - 12 weeks does not seem unreasonable.
Is the wait horrible and frustrating absolutely.
Don’t get me wrong we have loved our time in the USA but have to admit I cannot wait to return to the UK my family is there.
There are pros and cons to every country.
Will things be different of course.
I always say if we are not happy with the NHS we can always pay privately to see a doctor.
Its all about choice.
I hope this week has positive results for all.
