The facebook forum will be the death of you. I made a post today and the same admin that I called out for bad information turned off the comments.

Basically her favorite line to tell individuals with dependents is that you can only take a child to the uk if you have sole custody or death of a parent. So I made a post to say thats not the only option and other documents can be provided.

She basically believes parents with joint custody and child support cannot get approved, because the guidelines states sole custody or death.

I think she took offense to it because I called her out, she also started to talk about socioeconomic  factors. I had to blatantly say UKVI does not care how rich I am and which country I'm from and how my childs flies back to the US. They care about facts, its a check box visa.

I was going to add, why didn't the parent with sole custody get the visa (they were refused yesterday), but decided to leave it alone.

I told her as an admin she needed to do better and be more knowledgeable because some individuals only have this Facebook group and the misinformation within the group is crazy.

She's not too far off the mark.  But she's confusing sole responsibility with sole custody, which obviously isn't good.

My life improved 10 fold the day I left all the Facebook groups.  ;D

Two flight cancellations, two additional delays, sprinting through both Atlanta and Amsterdam airports, and three lost checked bags... But I finally made it.

Sorry you had to deal with all that while also trying to move! Try not to stress about the bags as they will find them as soon as they can for you. I had mine lost when going back to the US for Christmas one year and thankfully because of the tags they knew where they were and after a few days, they had them delivered to my mom's house where I was staying ANNNDDD I got to make a claim on money spent to buy clothes and toiletries (definitely look into that!). I'ts stressful and definitely not ideal, but just remember that you're here now! :D The hardest part is done! Welcome!
My, how time flies....

Ah! great news then! :D Just wanted to mention the claiming money because I think a lot of people don't realise they could be entitled to that so should raise a claim but good to know they got yours back to you quickly!

She's not wrong but her information is incomplete, which is what I told her. She also keeps screenshoting the guidelines from gov.uk, i said to her there is 3 ways on the guidelines though you only keep speaking of 2. Other individuals just have Facebook to rely on and you need to start updating the information that you give out. She basically said Facebook should be a starting point.

Maintenance and shared custody is not the devil. You can get visas for your dependents. You just need the documents to prove it.

She probably hates me now. She turned the comments off. Hahaha....and yes she probably is.  She sits high on the throne and noone can tell her anything.

We hold ksand24 and KFdancer in high esteem here because they know their stuff (and we like them!) but if your FB woman is wrong so much of the time, I just don't see how she can be in any position to sit on a throne? I guess turning off the comments of those who disagree must be the only way!  ;D

Her and I have butted heads on a few different occasions. I also have others PMing on FB with questions every once in awhile. I've referred at least 3 people to this site in the last couple months. What really rubbed me the wrong way is how high and mighty she acts and then in the next breath says she loves telling people 'i told you so'.
Even when life seems at it's most dark and despairing.. there is within the power to make change.

She probably loves it because of the fact that she barely gets to do it so when it happens it's a complete novelty :D

Yes her powerful weapon of the turning off the comments. I was going to be petty and start a new post, but I decided not too.
