Yes her powerful weapon of the turning off the comments.

Makes for a pretty one sided "discussion" !  ;D

It is and all I was trying to show her was this is not the only way.

She basically makes it seems like you have to, cut the other parent out of the childs life to get the visa or they have to be dead.

Then she started to compare a parent in Africa to a parent in the US. I had to tell her the Visa is check box, they dont even care if the applicant has money much less, only the sponsor.  So they especially dont care about which parent buys plane tickets for visits.

It's actually a million times easier when the parent who is remaining in the USA is in favor of the move.  As you know!

Yup, I even found out this lady used her child maintenance as income to get visa for her and her kids. Let me not even put that on there, she would die..... She would be like that not income....

I think the information given on here is always spot on I don't know how anyone can say bad things about the advice on here! I don't know what I'd do without this forum!

I joined the Facebook group mainly to find more active people and possibly more people with my situation! I'd never trust the advice from there though.

I headbutted a guy on there this morning giving out bad advice

That's because child maintenance that is continuing after the move to the UK is allowed to be counted.  She did nothing wrong.  :)

So today I got the request for priority status receipt email from "JW"

They stated in the email that they could not give a time scale for  when the application will be decided on.

Has anyone heard longer than 12 weeks? For us its around 10 weeks from when it arrived in NYC and 6 weeks from when it arrived in Sheffield.

Here's a copy of the email for those interested.

Yep - child maintenance comes under Category C: Non-Employment Income :).

From Appendix FM 1.7:
Quote
6.1. Category C: Non-employment income – requirements
6.1.1. The following are sources of non-employment income which can be counted towards the financial requirement under Category C:
 Property rental.
 Dividends or other income from investments, stocks and shares, bonds or trust funds.
 Interest from savings.
Maintenance payments from a former partner of the applicant in relation to the applicant or any children of the applicant and their former partner. Also, maintenance payments from a former partner of the applicant’s partner in relation to that partner.
UK Maternity Allowance, Bereavement Allowance, Bereavement Payment and Widowed Parent’s Allowance.
 Payments under the War Pensions Scheme, the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and the Armed Forces Attributable Benefits Scheme.
 A maintenance grant or stipend (not a loan) associated with undergraduate study or postgraduate study or research.
 Ongoing insurance payments.
 Ongoing payments from a structured legal settlement.
 Ongoing royalty payments.

It's a bit masochistic, but I'm tempted to join this FB group so I can witness all this.  Everyone is making it sound so exciting!  ;)

I left that group ages ago because they PM'd me saying I was making some members feel uncomfortable because of my responses and they needed to ask me to stop.

What did I say to make them feel uncomfortable?

"The information you received from UKY was correct on the post you made over there".
