Hi MiseryOfLongDistance, welcome to the forum.  :)

I too am wondering why you paid for priority as well as Settlement premium as the latter includes the former service. Also, if money is tight, there was no need to use either of the expediting services although I understand why you would want to.
You should look at trying to get a refund for the settlement priority at least.

Good luck.

I applied for the option where it said settlement premium fee of $2056 from UKVI on the access Uk gov, IHS $1620, and $2000 for the premium appointment service at the VFS VAC in NY.

Did I do something wrong then? The VFS staff was professional and handled my case with care and answered all questions to the best of their knowledge.
Priority Settlement: I used the new access gov Uk website to apply.
Application online from USA: November 5, 2019
Biometrics/ documents scanned at VFS NY: November 6, 2019
Email of online application received by Sheffield: November 7, 2019
Email stating “case not straight forward will take more time for decision” received on December 17, 2019.
December 19, 2019: Decision is made email from Sheffield.
December 19, 2019: NY VFS UKVI service center emailed me to come with passport within 5 days.
Decision successful and Visa Approved!!!!!!!!!

No, that sounds right:
- spousal visa fee (not premium anything, just the visa fee)= £1523 (which is currently $2053)
- IHS = £1200 ($1620)
- settlement premium service = $2000

But it sounded like you were saying you had paid all of that PLUS the $770-odd for settlement priority service as well.

The approvals seem to be fairly quick for the last few weeks in general from what I can see from everyone's postings.

It is far to say that this time of year is slower in regards to applications being submitted ?

Summer is busiest, followed by the Christmas rush but the periods in between are quieter.

I read while I was perusing the old posts last night, some one said the EOC does not know the date you expect to arrive in the UK.

How is that possible with it stated on the first page of the application?

How old were the posts you were looking at?

The ECO does know the intended date of travel as it's part of the application, they just don't always honor it.

The intended date of travel has been part of the application for a lot longer than that. We started the process in 2013 and it was one of the questions at that time  :)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Intended Travel Date question has been part of the application since before I joined the forum... and that was almost 13 years ago.

I thought perhaps the person was saying the EOC was not privy to that info so to not make that a determining factor in their timing of the decision.  I'm glad they do know .  I put down an arrival date of December 29th.  I bought a one way ticket in February - naively thinking the process was not going to be this complex or that I had to send in my passport.  I was unable to file the application till October 28 because I was booked to be in Wales until the 27th and had to disclose that as the last date I saw my husband.

Hindsight is 20/20.  Would not have gone then if I knew this was going to be cutting it so close.   30WD will bring me to December 19th.
I can't even give my job proper notice in case I don't get the visa - don't want to quit and then get denied and not have a job.  I sold my house in June and have been living in my parent's basement - lots of fun when your 52 years old.

I'm more worried about the timing then anything else - and like all of you - the waiting is torture.

If you come across a specific post that you would like clarified, just quote and link it next time and we'll hopefully be able to explain what they meant when we see it in context. But sounds like it was more of a general don't buy a ticket until you see your passport as you never know what date they are going to give you, type of a situation.

I put down an arrival date of December 29th.  I bought a one way ticket in February - naively thinking the process was not going to be this complex or that I had to send in my passport.

Yes, unfortunately buying the ticket should be the last thing you do, once you have your visa in hand.

It's not really that you saw your husband on the 27th, it's that you cannot submit the application while in the UK, so had to wait until you returned to the US to submit.

They do not make it easy, especially with the 30 day vignette limiting your arrival time so much. Best of luck, I hope it all works out for you.  :)

I think I  messed up.

I was looking at my application and I answered "yes" to are you  currently married or in a civil relationship with another person.
I read it to mean my husband but now I think it means some one other than my husband.

I  was married previously and put his name and divorce date / papers in the application. That's who I thought they meant.

I see they requested the proof of relationship and not divorce decree to my ex-husband.

I did include our divorce decree in the paperwork.

Do you think this will deter / delay my application?

Why can't they Word these things simply and clearly?
