That won’t be the reason a decision hasn’t been made, because about 95% of the waiting time is your application sitting in a pile waiting to be picked up and looked at.

Once it is in the ECO’s hands, it only takes an hour or so to make a decision... which means no one will even know what date you put on the application until the day the application is processed - which is usually the same day the decision is made.

Thank you!

Also @collins1111, not sure if it will have affected the speed of the process but we did upload all of our documents to VFS and only sent passport/priority receipt/copy of application/return shipping label to NY. It will be interesting to see if that does affect average speed or not!

Yeah we did VFS scanning too, i found it stressful because the lady was having issues with the machine and it think she finally got it ::)

Hopefully we should hear this week or latest next week. 22 WD today will keep you updated but congrats xx

I think I  messed up.

I was looking at my application and I answered "yes" to are you  currently married or in a civil relationship with another person.
I read it to mean my husband but now I think it means some one other than my husband.

I  was married previously and put his name and divorce date / papers in the application. That's who I thought they meant.

I see they requested the proof of relationship and not divorce decree to my ex-husband.

I did include our divorce decree in the paperwork.

Do you think this will deter / delay my application?

Why can't they Word these things simply and clearly?

I emailed the UKVI on the off chance they could inform the ECO about my error.
It was a dead end...I'm not surprised but wanted some proof I did my due diligence.

Do you think this will delay my processing or will they realize what I did.
I can't be the first person to mis-read that question.

Hello all, new member here, although I've been lurking on these forums for several days as I anxiously await my wife's UK spouse visa to be approved.

About us:  I am a dual British/USA citizen, with an American wife and a dual national baby girl.  My wife and I met in Texas in 2015, were married there November 2017, and lived there until about a month ago.  I have since returned to the UK to take up a new job in Aberdeen.

My wife and our 10 month old are still in Texas, waiting for this visa to be approved - and it is horrible having to be apart.

In addition to the $2000-ish application fee and $1600 in NHS fees, we paid the extortionate $2000 fee through VFS (I'd love to know what this did for us because we prepared all of the documentation ourselves in advance), and my wife applied from their Houston office.

Our timeline looks like this:

OCT 30TH    Online application (settlement premium application package)
NOV 4TH      Appointment with VFS Houston (assume this doubles as biometrics date??)
NOV 4th        UKVI EMAIL ECO
Since then:  waiting...

My only nervousness with our application is surrounding my earnings.  I was a real estate agent the last two years in Texas and all I really have to prove earnings are bank statements and a letter from my broker confirming the amounts I earned in commission and when.  They comfortably exceed the £18k minimum but I'd rather they were employer paystubs... As for my current role, (coincidentally I started the very same day as my wife's VFS appointment) I received multiple employment offers when we decided to return to Aberdeen and I noticed that my wife attached the wrong one to our application.  Again, they all exceed the threshold amount but I'm worried the home office will contact that employer for verification and they will confirm that I DO NOT work there.  I raised this with my wife who wrote to her contact at VFS who told her to do nothing, rather just wait and respond if the home office request further info.

It's all very nerve-racking as I'm sure you all know, and it hasn't yet been 15 WD since our application but I'm desperate to just get on with our lives so I'm hanging out here for any signs of reassurance!  I do see people are getting approvals around the 20WD mark at the moment so I'm taking comfort in that.

Good luck to everybody and congratulations to the recent recipients!

Welcome!  :)

The consensus is that the $2,000 service is just not worth it. All it does is allow the applicant to keep their passport and covers scanning/shipping and priority. Most people choose the settlement priority service.

I'm a bit worried too about your financial requirements. Were you employed or self employed in the US? If employed, pay slips are mandatory and if self employed, there is a whole lot of extra documentation required.,

Did you read these before you applied?

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-fm-se-family-members-specified-evidence

Might be a good idea to start your own thread to discuss.
