Thanks Larrabee!

I was an agent for a real estate broker - technically self employed.  I have read all of that material and provided all I can by way of evidence.  About the only other thing I could provide would be a US tax return for 2019 but typically these aren't filed until April, in any case not before the end of the calendar year!

The National Insurance number is the UK equivalent of the SS number.

How to apply https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number

You may also be thinking of a National Health Service number. You'll get that from your GP practice after enrolling.

Thank you much -  Any insight on the problem I posed the other day regarding the wrong answer regarding my relationship status on my visa application?  Thought you may have some thoughts for me -

Thank you much -  Any insight on the problem I posed the other day regarding the wrong answer regarding my relationship status on my visa application?  Thought you may have some thoughts for me -

Quote
I was looking at my application and I answered "yes" to are you  currently married or in a civil relationship with another person.
I read it to mean my husband but now I think it means some one other than my husband.

I  was married previously and put his name and divorce date / papers in the application. That's who I thought they meant.

I see they requested the proof of relationship and not divorce decree to my ex-husband.

I did include our divorce decree in the paperwork.

Do you think this will deter / delay my application?

I think the probability is that you will be fine. You won't be the only person who has done this.  :)

Our timeline is almost identical so I'm curious to see how things time out for both of us.

I was scheduled for my biometrics on Nov 4th but when I arrived at the USCIS it was permanently closed! After having a mini-stroke, I took a chance and tried a different location the next day...hoping they would take pity on me...which they did.

I'm okay during the day because working keeps me busy but the nights are horrible.
My husband is coming tomorrow to spend thanksgiving week with me so at least he will distract my thoughts on the visa for a few days.

Hopefully the next time we see each other I'll be a resident of the u.k.!!

Yes I'll be watching you too REGIT!  I'm hoping we hear something this week or next, the waiting is brutal.

If you have any questions about life in the UK I'm happy to help.  I'm a dual national (born in Scotland, raised in Texas) and I've spent about half of my 38 years in either location so I'm completely, equally British and American!

Good luck and here's hoping this wait is over soon!  I'm waiting on my wife and our 10 month old baby and I can't help putting the wait into "percentage of my baby's life missed" terms... (10% and counting)

It must be torture for you being away from your child. Hopefully, you can think in term of days and not months till you are reunited.
Quite possible you'll hear something by Friday.
I appreciate your offer...I just might take you up on it.
Moving from NYC to a small town in South Wales is going to be Quite a culture shock.
I told my husband the name of our house plaque is going to be Green Acres...Quite appropriate I think (if you get the reference).
This blog has been a godsend...don't feel so alone in this plight.

I'm just a few days behind REGIT. Only thing is, I mailed all my supporting documents to the scanning hub, so maybe mine will take longer.

My husband had the documents scanned in the u.k. But from what I understand, the clock starts on the day of your biometrics.
It is all a big ball of bingo anyway....luck of the draw who gets picked next...
At least we are all here for each other.😊

Hello everyone,

I’m working on the application for my UK spouse visa.

I’m American and hope to move to the UK in January, together with my British husband and our baby son, who also has UK citizenship. My husband and I currently live in the US and were married here in 2011.

Looking into the application process has unnerved me somewhat! I had a few questions about it and was praying somebody here might be willing to offer me some answers or insights.

1. My husband has hopefully rented a 2-bedroom apartment for us in London, with the tenancy starting in mid-January. Will a copy of the tenancy agreement be sufficient to demonstrate adequate accomodation and should my name be on the tenancy agreement?

2. We meet the income requirements via cash savings in my husband’s UK savings account but that account only produces annual statements. Are annual statements sufficient? Or will my husband need to contact his bank to obtain a letter stating the account’s balance at monthly intervals over a given period of time?

3. I would like to expedite my application if at all posssible. Does anyone know about using the VFS Global Premium Application Centre in New York for what they call the Document Scanning Assisant Service? I don’t find the VFS website tells you that much about how the process works. (It also isn’t altogether clear to me if I’m making a settlement or non-settlement application although I assume non-settlement.)

4. The gov.uk "Family visas" instructions page states that I need copies of any visa or entry stamps in my previous passports. Does this just refer to entry stamps for entry into the UK?

5. Might someone be willing to share a master list for all the documentation that should be submitted for a spouse visa application? People on the forum seem to refer to so many different documents that I'm finding it hard to keep track of everything that's required and am starting to worry about leaving something important out when making my application.

I would be so grateful if anyone is able to offer answers to any of these questions!
