How will the Christmas into New Year holidays affect the processing timeline. Do all the holiday days count as non-working days and nothing won’t be processed in this time?

Yes, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years day are public holidays.

I hope you don't have much longer to wait.

I just got an email stating:

“ A decision has been made on your UK Visa application.

If you applied via a US Dept. of Homeland Security Application Support Centre or a VFS Premium Application Centre and chose to have your passport mailed back to you directly, that will take place shortly.

If you submitted your application via a VFS Premium Application Centre and chose to collect your passport in person at the end of the process, they will be in contact with you to provide further guidance.”

Now I elected to buy the VFS premium settlement service package which allowed me to keep my passport.

Does that mean VFS NY will contact me any time soon or shall I contact them or go to them to collect the decision paperwork/ and visa vignette if applicable?

Breathe.
Priority Settlement: I used the new access gov Uk website to apply.
Application online from USA: November 5, 2019
Biometrics/ documents scanned at VFS NY: November 6, 2019
Email of online application received by Sheffield: November 7, 2019
Email stating “case not straight forward will take more time for decision” received on December 17, 2019.
December 19, 2019: Decision is made email from Sheffield.
December 19, 2019: NY VFS UKVI service center emailed me to come with passport within 5 days.
Decision successful and Visa Approved!!!!!!!!!

Exciting!  :)

They need to put the visa in the passport, so NY should get in touch with you to instruct you to return it. But if you have a way of contacting them, I'd get on it so that there is no chance of them dropping the ball at this stage and keeping you waiting longer than is necessary.

Good luck!

I decided based on that Sheffield email to make my way to the VFS office in Manhattan New York, as I tried to locate any possible number or email. I did find an email but I don’t know if it worked because as I was getting ready to leave my home in the afternoon I noticed an email from the exact email I had sent it to earlier, and it was a generic email that stated “ Dear Applicant,
We would like to invite you back into our office with your passport to have your vignette affixed, this will complete your visa  process with us.
Please let us know when is a convenient time for you to come in and do so, within five (5) business days of this email. We are open Monday- Friday from 8a.m to 5p.m.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.”

Fingers crossed it was too good to be true but I got everything ready that I thought would come in Use at the office and once there told them I received an email about bringing my passport. The VFS rep asked for my name and took my passport. Within 15 minutes of waiting I was called back to the front desk and was made to sign a document, and then told to verify if everything in my passport and the documents.

Visa vignette was affixed and the decision letter and other copies of documents were given to me. Sigh of relief, tears of joy, the long wait is over, All praise to The Almighty.

Can’t believe it.  Thank you to everyone who has wished good fortune and to all who are awaiting their own decisions, may you all have good fortune!

Can’t believe it! 31 working days it took, after two refusals, and nine long years of come and go separation, I get a chance to unite with my family on a permanent basis.

We just have the one thread for applications made all year round - this one has been going for years.

Just ignore the dates in the topic title... they actually refer to Oct-Dec 2017!

Hi! My MIL attended biometrics on the 17th of December and she received an email today that a decision has been made. There was no attachment, so fingers crossed it's good news. I am not sure how to calculate the WD from the 17th with the holidays factored in, but that was SO incredibly fast. Maybe 13 or 14 working days?
