Boardgame Meetup
« on: November 06, 2017, 12:11:10 PM »
I know this is probably going to go unread/nobody will be close by/interested, but thought I'd reach out here just in case....

Looking to see if anybody would be interested in attending a boardgame meetup if my husband and I were to put something together. We would be playing more strategic board/dice/tabletop games (can provide more specifics if anybody is curious).

We are in the Berkshire area so it would be ideal to keep in there but would be willing to drive to counties nearby if they were within a reasonable radius from us (like Hampshire/Surrey depending on which part, for example). We travel but we don't want to go hours outside our area to game. We are just trying to find people to play games with as we have currently only 2 friends we can occasionally convince to play games apart from card/drinking games. Those aren't necessarily off the table (no pun intended), but we mainly want to be playing the strategic games we've purchased. Could be weeknight or weekend. We're pretty open in that sense.

Just thought I'd put it out there and see if anybody had any interest in partaking (even just once to see if you like it) before looking to go to a meetup group with complete strangers. Happy to answer any questions or provide additional info if needed :)

Once we're out there I'd be interested. I love most board games. I don't get into the ones that take 6+ hours to play, but shorter than that I'm usually good for. (I can't sit that long without ending up in pain.)

haha we don't have any that take 6+ hours yet. Not sure I'm ready for that personally! :) I don't even have a valid reason like you do...I just don't know if my brain could stay focused that long.

We have the Pandemic app!! (didn't want to invest in the game for just two of us to play without knowing if we liked it or not so tried the app first). Hear great things about Pandemic :)

We got ours as a Christmas gift last year but haven't been able to play it yet because we don't know anyone who will. It's the one where you can only play it 12 times or something so didn't want to waste it on "maybe" friends.  Have heard it's great though!

I didn't realize there was a version that could only be played 12 times! I love pandemic :)

In my office once a week we have a board game lunch break. It's my favorite! I don't have a big collection yet but I really enjoy them. I'm not a video game person but really love board games and card games (fluxx and exploding kittens come to mind).
