« on: November 13, 2017, 10:32:21 AM »
I have booked my test  EEEK. I have gone lax I studying, so I thought if I book a date, I have to study. I've been taking the practise tests in the app everyday and pass them, but really need to free read the book. Dreading January 10th now

I used the TSO-published Android app almost exclusive, and got to where perfect scores on mock exams were not guaranteed, but they were possible.  My pass rate on them became 100%, so I felt really confident.

Then I went to a (not TSO-published) online practice site and did some tests and totally freaked out because the app didn't cover that stuff (It was this site:  http://www.lifeintheuktestweb.co.uk/). After a couple of shocking practice test results on that site, I decided to finally read (skim) through the handbook one time (the text of it is on that site... the only thing I paid for was the Android app).  Then I went back to the Android app.

On the day, my test took about 10 minutes, and I passed easily.  I don't think I got 100%, but the ones I knew (21/24), I knew.  The remaining three were guesses, and I have no idea.  But I knew that 21 correct responses was enough to pass, so I didn't even stress.

Just for a laugh I did some of those practice tests and failed miserably.

I've lived here most of the life too so that's pretty embarrassing.

Sounds like you're ready.  You can skim it again for peace of mind, but you should be fine.  :)

Echoing what someone else has said...read the book.

I only used the app and just took tests (on the app I mean) and was passing them without problems so I booked the test. Big mistake. I did pass the test but barely I think. I’m certain I missed at least five.  I think I was one away from failing. Definitely read the book and look st online practise tests.

Oh dear.  It's too late to rebook, so you might as well go to it and do your best.  Do you have the mobile app?  I strongly recommend it.  Do a lot of practice tests tonight.  Review every wrong answer by reading it and the correct response completely.

When you get in there tomorrow, really pay attention to the wording of the question, because they seem to have restructured them, slightly, from what's in the study materials.  You can do this!

I've read the book twice, and up to Christmas did the mock exams in the app every night. Doing tons of exams how, in the morning and on the way to the test. I did just get 24 out of 24. And have posted every mock exam....average score 83%. I just wanted to study during the Christmas break, we close down until the new year......prosecco and wine got in the way

Bah.  You're totally ready.  Don't stress.  If you're coming back to it after a break and getting 24/24, you're ready.

In the test, to keep myself from getting too anxious, I went through all the questions and straight answered all the ones I knew, and flagged the ones I didn't (without guessing).  I only had 3 flagged ones, so I already knew I'd passed the test.  Then just to be extra safe, I went through all 24 questions again, re-reading every question and my answer, to be sure I didn't make any careless errors, and I made a guess at the three flagged ones as they came up.  Then I looked at those 3 flagged ones one last time, and shrugged and submitted.  I spent more time in there than I ever did on any of my app quizzes/mock tests, and I was still out in under 15 minutes.  If you're breezing through most of the app questions, you're going to pass.

You got this, JennyEye.

My experience was similar to jfkimberly's. Go through each question carefully, mark an answer if you know it, flag if you're not sure and go back over them all, making an educated guess on the ones you were unsure on.

Even taking my sweet time, it only took 15 minutes or so. They give you plenty of time, so take it if you need it!

I took the test in 2013, so things may have changed since then, but be sure you bring the documents you need to bring (it used to be the ID you specified in the booking and proof of address). In my exam, several people were turned away for not having the right docs with them. Without the right docs, you can't even take the test (although that might have changed since 2013) so do a double check before leaving home.

Good luck!

I just did mine in September, and nothing has changed.  It's exactly what you described.

Thank you both. I thought flagging was to report an incorrect question......gah.

The app takes me 5 minutes roughly. I've got my brp, which I used to register and 5 pieces of mail, in case they try to tell me they won't accept something. Leaving here at 1, for a 2o clock test, by train it's 15 minutes away.....Not chancing anything
