In addition, the French attackers were virtually all born in France and then radicalised in prison.

That's interesting - I joined the forum in Jan 2007 (when the visas were processed in LA, Chicago and NYC) and as far as I remember, it was not possible to go to the consulate yourself - you had to use a visa courier to do it on your behalf.

For priority/expedited processing, I remember you had to hire a visa courier to deliver your documents and then pick them up again later that day (or the next day)... which cost about $100-150.
We got our visas in March 2007, and I can assure you that we got them in person, at the LA Consulate, and we did not pay anything extra.  We did not use a visa courier.  We filled out the forms online, and then we were sent an appointment date.  We stayed overnight in a hotel in LA, as we had to be at the consulate at 9:00 am.  The whole experience is burned into my memory in detail, as it was such a big life-changing experience.

This goes without saying - or so I thought - so let me say it.  I'm NOT talking about the good people.  I'm talking about the scumbags, the ones that infiltrate our communities and then try to kill us.  And with the open borders that come with being a member of the EU, you see what is happening in the UK.

It's so obvious that I'm referring to ones that make bombs and go blow people up; go to shopping malls and stab people; and rent trucks and plow over groups of innocent tourists.  NOT the ones that come to the US and UK to work and contribute to society.  That's why I put "refugees" in quotes.  Many are masquerading as refugees in order to infiltrate our neighborhoods.  This isn't breaking news.

Unfortunately for the legitimate refugees, it's impossible to tell them from those that want to blow you and your family up.  Can you tell the difference between the 2 by looking at them?  Because I can't.  If you can, please let the authorities know so they can fix the problem we're having.

It's "people like me" that are fed up with turning the TV on every other week and seeing another attack by people that are passed off as "peaceful" by our leaders.  It's sickening and pathetic, and the sooner the UK gets out of the EU, the safer its citizens will be.

Just saying what a majority of UK and US citizens feel when it comes to immigration and border control, as evidenced by the Brexit and US presidential election.  Sometimes it's not pleasant to hear, but it is what it is.

Ummm correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you about to become an immigrant?

Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I came here to learn about the extremely overpriced Gold Premium Service. Not listen to  some racist spew hate. Not the time or place, dude.

Best of luck with your spouse visa!
;)

I think you can keep your passport during the processing period. I looked at the information on this page https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/usa/applicationcentre.html

The gold premium processing benefits are listed on the far right column and it says "keep your passport" is included.

All I want is to live in a country that vets those that come in to make sure they are who they say they are, and to do everything it can to protect its citizens.  From everyone.  That's not racist.

Your comments were incredibly racist, but sure, keep telling yourself that it's just vetting you care about. I'd recommend checking your privilege before moving.

For the topic at hand - we are all wondering what that "keep your passport" means since it seems that the only benefit aside from paying loads more to have someone else mail the documents. Hopefully someone will try and share how it goes!

That’s what we don’t know at the moment - we’ll have to see if we can find out any official information from UKVI about travelling to the UK while the visa is being processed.

It may be that when you attend the appointment, they tell you what you can or can’t do, but until we actually know of someone who has used the service and experienced it, we’re just guessing.

Is there anything about this gold service on the UK government site? I can't find anything.

It’s all on the VFS site (same as the other premium services), but I haven’t seen anything on the UKVI site as of yet - I’m not sure if they announce it when they introduce these new services though.

Edited to add:
They might put it on the ‘Apply in the USA’ page at some point, as the other services are now on there too, but it hasn’t been updated since June 2017:

You have confused "citizenship" with "race". Some EEA citizens are the same race as the English.  Citizenship and race are not the same thing.

And with the open borders that come with being a member of the EU, you see what is happening in the UK.

The UK doesn't have open borders. It's the EEA countries that are in Schengen that have open borders and the UK refused to sign up to Schengen. The Republic of Ireland is not in the Schengen area either as they want an open border with the UK.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area

The open borders of the Schengen area is not the same as the EU's 2004 Directive of Free Movement of People. Under the EU's "free movement" the UK can and does remove EEA citizens and detain and deport non-EEA citizens who also entered the UK under the EEA regs. The EU prefers to use the word "remove" for EEA citizens.

He was speaking specifically about refugees in his comments. I was not mistaking anything, I am American and see comments like this every day spewed across social media. It is thinly veiled racism in the name of "safer immigration". But this thread is about the gold service so this will be my last response on the matter.

This topic has veered off course.

Even if the tangents were at some point loosely related to the original topic, let's get back to the subject at hand, folks.

Posts which remain off track will be deleted. I will be deleting, not editing, even if they have useful, on-topic info, because I ain't got time for that.
