That's wierd, I've never added anything but chocolate to ours.  I buy a bag of Belgian chocolate for £10 on Amazon and heat it up in a water bath on the stove.  If there's a bunch of people, I'll add a giant galaxy bar.

What problem did added oil solve?

If I didn't add LOADS of oil to the chocolate it wouldn't flow through the fountain.  Just plopped down in globs.   ::)

Are you talking about fondue or the chocolate fountain?

I'm talking about a chocolate fountain.  My kids are obsessed and want one for every birthday.

kFDAncer, I don't know what's up with that.  Cheap chocolate?  Not heating it up enough in the first place?  I always let the fountain warm up for a while and get the chocolate good and hot.

I've never used a chocolate fountain but I'm absolutely grossed out by the chocolate fountains at the US buffet restaurants. They are absolutely bogging.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't use one of those for anything.
I used to work at an auction TV channel and we sold chocolate fountains.  The first time, all the crew were digging in and it was obvious what a great idea it was.  The camera dude was even coming out to dip stuff.  We sold a ton of them.  Next time, they reused the chocolate and everyone was worried that it would make them sick so nobody ate any.  It was so obvious that nobody wanted anything to do with that chocolate that we didn't sell a single fountain!

I remember when Golden Corral introduced 3 fountains... white chocolate,  milk and and caramel. 3 different ways to contaminate your food. Just no and yuck!

I would recommend a meat fondue with boiling oil but that's a bad plan with kids.

I had this on the same ski trip.  That was also pretty amazing.

I like skiing (I'm very bad at it, but I'm keen), but I think I was more interested in the food on that trip.  :)

Liquid caramel?  That changes everything.  I’d eat liquid caramel even if it was filtered through Son of Sailor’s beard!

That's how sea-salted caramel is made, you know.

By the way, I did take my boy to see the new Thor movie.  It was well worth it.  Now I play Led Zeppelin whenever we are in the car.

When my kids were here, we ate at The Kitchin in Leith. It's a Michelin Star restaurant.

The food and service was impeccable.

If I remember, you guys were doing tourism in Aberdeen.  Was it good?  What did you guys see?

Ahhh wonderful! And excellent driving music. Your own little mobile karaoke station. (No, we are not going to karaoke next time, put the very notion out of your head.)

I eat a cheat meal every Saturday. I adjust my daily intake to account for it. I average 1900 calories a day including my cheat. It keeps my mind right.

Larrabee, introduce us to your friend!  She just seems to have dropped down from heaven to talk about cheat meals.

Isn't it supposed to be Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody?

(I had to make a Good Omens reference)
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.
