Can I have a whinge please - Stomach bug woes
« on: December 06, 2004, 08:06:15 PM »
Last week my toddler had a short bout with a stomach bug, and it laid me flat yesterday. I mean I could not get out of bed yesterday at all. Awful, awful feeling, low fever, nausea, the usual with a stomach bug. Today I have been better but it comes in waves and I just want to feel 'normal' again! Flat 7up, a banana that lasted most of the day, toast and those Italian crackers standing in for saltines. A cup of tea now and again. I feel awful and yucky and terrible and just wanted to have a good whinge, I am not good at being sick like this, where you feel your body is betraying you. And I can't take anything for it, I just have to sweat it out. Sniff. Thanks for the whinging space.

My deepest sympathy! We all had the same thing two weeks ago. First my two year old woke up in a puddle of barf (TMI i realize) then as hubby was cleaning it up I got sick. By the morning me, hubby and Coby were all sick in bed. The next day my eldest son got it and my baby had the runs.  My third son got a stomachache but never really got full blown sickness like the rest of us.We were like crippled here for nearly a week.
I had a very hard time getting my two year old to eat again. I was able to find some Dutch applesauce which seems to be exactly like the American stuff...anyway I followed the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast). Eventually he stopped being afraid of barfing and started eating again.
Hope everyone is feeling better real soon
Ricki

Ugh, it's awful isn't it. I can relate to your two year old, I got sick right after my shower yesterday and was a little hesitant to repeat the process this morning (but I am glad I did, even if you are still sick it always feels better to be clean, in fact thinking about it a bath might be good later - anything to feel better). Oh, moan moan moan.

Oh, stomach bugs are awful!  And the worst thing is having little ones to take care of too-they're bad enough when it's just you laying in bed with even your hair hurting...but to have to take care of others when you feel that way...

There should be a nationwide group of Mommies who will come help you when you're so sick.  ;D

That would be great (even better if my mom was here!) but in fairness, my husband has been terrific. However I am sure he would love it if a crew of Mommies were about to take up the slack ;)

Hugs Stella! It's horrible being sick when you're pregnant, hope you're feeling loads better very soon.
