Yes, you can travel within the UK, it's just that because your BRP is your visa, if you leave the UK without it, you might not be allowed back in again because you won't have proof of your UK immigration status.

Have you considered applying by post for FLR(M)?  I only ask as they are processing so quick at about 6 weeks.  And you would save £590.  Just my 2p.  :)

I’d like to thank you all for your help, our premium service appointment was this morning in Belfast and we were approved in just over an hour. Can’t thank you enough.
